Anyone ever been skiing in Slovenia December time?

If so any good?

I've been twice. Food isn't great, skiing is a bit rough and ready.

Not the worst by any means, but nowhere near the best. If you're keeping costs down, I prefer the Dolomites.

The resorts are good, but pistes not particularly challenging. Snow cover can be variable at that time of year though

But it is good value for money; add are the Bulgarian resorts

Cheap but very primitive Austria for the best

Did Bulgaria, off to Austria in February!

Any other reasonable resort for an intermediate you can recommend?

Pozza di Fassa in Dolomites. Cheap, great food and very reasonable skiing.

Did you go through a package company or trivago/expedia?

I just book directly.

The Hotel Rene there is fantastic, there's a shuttle service that stops outside. I remember skinpasses being very cheap (bought upon arrival).

I flew into Venice and drove a hire car up both times. Not sure about public transport.

If money isn't a problem, then Engelberg is brilliant too. I've had some of my best ski trips there and now go once a season.

Usually stay at the Spannort, it's a boutiquey type hotel.

Though I had indigestion when I was there, and a pack of Rennies cost 15.90€. It's ridiculously priced.

Someone suggested Finland to me, they seemed to think the prices were reasonable but I thought that part of the world was quite pricey??

We were put off Slovenia due to the food, one of their specialities is stuffed tripe *shudders*

Preston

Firstly, I've never been skiing so any advice from me is like an Arab advising an Eskimo on how to build an igloo.. However the better half is from Poland and has talked highly of a place called Zakopane. I've seen friends there on Facebook and does look impressive. Polish food is amazing, so is the vodka and beer and you'll get hammered off a tenner in Poland, no problem
