In a moment of madness I have signed up for cancer research Dryathlon. No booze for the whole of September. Today is the first test. A Friday night with no wine
Anyone else doing it and want to share the pain lol |

I didn't drink from sep-nov last year. Had a few over xmas. Nothing from the day after boxing day till may at licketys party. Then that was it till a few weeks ago when I went out twice within a month. Friends wedding next weekend and a night out in October that'll be it till xmas.
Now I could do a sponsored 'no eating biscuits' that would be harder. But instead I'm going to a Macmillan coffee morning where I get to eat biscuits and give to charity!
Win/win |

I only really drink a couple of times a year, so something like this woud be pointless.
Having said that good for all those who are going for it. As a society I feel we are becoming far too dependant upon alcohol (for a multidude of reasons) and events like this are a start , allbeit a very small one, towards altering that.

It's about 7 weeks since I've had a proper drink. There's been a couple of gigs I've been to when I've had 2 or 3 pints and that has been it. It wasn't planned and I doubt it will be a permanent state of affairs but I'm enjoying feeling the benefits of it.

Are you not a little worried that you are finding it that tough? I'm all for everything in moderation but this reads as though you really need the stuff. It's not for me to judge of course and well done for sticking with it if you really are finding it that hard |

I think they did dry January?? this year the amount of my friends on fb that really struggled with it or never made it was shocking, I enjoy a drink but if it became such an issue in my life that I couldn't go 4 weeks without one I'd be seriously worried. |

I think there is a difference between needing a drink and finding yourself in a situation where you would normally drink and thinking mmmmm it would be good to have a drink. |
