"Are you annoyed at your college or Microsoft for not giving their product away free? "
I'm annoyed at neither really, it's more of a ffs I have enough money issues at the moment without this being one |

Seriously though you can always buy Office 2013 with student discount that is the same software as Office 365 but not updated next update is due November, but it doesn't have any major changes |

This may sound like I'm bad with money, which is a reasonable assumption, however, I spent 100 less than expected on holiday, and I've paid 250 onto my credit card each month, but things that have been unforeseen have kept popping up and now I've got more debt than I ever expected, part of which is repairs to my car, part of which is college payments which I was told my loan would cover, but now it apparently doesn't. |

"Annoyed I have to pay to use this service so I can do my college work. Rant over"
I thought that registered students could get MS Office for a very good deal ? |

To be completely honest, I haven't looked into options because I wasn't aware I would have to pay before today, and that was only because I'm already working on a couple of projects |

I usually just use wordpad, but I can't make tables in wordpad, so I downloaded the trial. Gives me a month to research options, but I'll definitely look into the options mentioned in this thread to see which ones suit my needs |

For the cost and the ability to install office on upto 5 machines 365 is quite well priced to be fair
Appreciate it's a cost you can do without but it isn't too badly priced,
Open office is a free alternative though but I find office is better to use |

That's correct.
Cheap as chips for students - the site is something like software4students.
But of course the .doc or .docx file extensions are one of Ms biggest earners. The cheap imitations like Ms work are, I am afraid , sh1t.
So much fannying about with poor office-wannabes, Either get the software off that student site if you qualify, or buy an office cd. the office cd is about 100 bucks for 3 installs. Not great, but better than wasting your money on subscribing to sex sites |

Yeah, my rant was nothing to do with how much it cost, or how worth it the program is, more a ffs world, stop with the unexpected bills |
