...Up on the Downs

I am curious, how many people on here feel that they have an active spiritual life, and of what kind?

Care to expand on your dislike of the word?

I do and it is not linked to any organised religion, it's personal to me.

societal expectations... if i say spirituality, people who have no experience of it instantly jump to conclusions like...''psychic/medium... oh my god he can see ghosts'' all of which instantly put me in a box.... i value freedom ... and as a multi-faceted being with many elements to my behavior, i'd rather have 0 expectations on myself so i can act as myself rather than a distant clouded portrayal.

Haha, fair enough - that would be about the last thing to enter my head anyway!!

To clarify I mean spirituality not spiritualism (thought some may be into that I am sure).

I have done, and done a lot of searching and study, but I am in a place of flux at the moment. I feel quite a lot in my spirit, am very intuitive, and wondered how common that would be here.

Yep, spirituality based on a relationship with the Creator

We're both spiritual and have tried out a variety of whacky groups in search of something that fits. It's been a lot of fun... and I'm sure we'll do more of it... but we've ended up realising that we're a bit of an odd fit for them all. Mrs P probably veers more towards the Shamanism side of things... whilst I'm a bit more Rumi-esque

The spirits in my life consist of vodka and tequila!

They listen to me and understand more than any God ever could *hic*

The right place

I was brought up as an atheist but had a spiritual experience in my late teens. I then got quite involved in the church. I have stopped going to church but I still have a keen interest in theology and philosophy.

I have explored and studied a number of paths and practices, experienced phenomenon that are unusual to say the least....expressing my spirituality through my work is my current path

.

Why do you feel the need to group together?.

I know why I group together with fellow greenies.... It's to move the movement along!.

But I'd still be a greenie without the green party.

So is it about spreading the word or being a greenie, you see in my case, spreading the word is good, because more greens means a better world... Does the same apply to Catholicism or Islam!.

I'm still saying you could join my earth religion!

Kinda the same here... I had a very anti-spiritual anti-religious upbringing. I never joined a church though, and I'd already reasoned my way out of my own atheism before it happened... but I also had an experience that totally shifted my perspective. Good to know I'm not alone

Hey Sexy... it's really only for the sense of community... nothing else for us... just a place to share who we truly are without having to feel on guard to someone calling us a bunch of idiots lol

As for the earth religion... I'm a bit scared of joining your religion... it makes me worried you'll welcome us all into the room, turn off the lights, and then start clubbing us to death lol

Lights!!

You mean blow out the candles surely... Hell yeah, but then there's that wax for the indoctrination

I've had good experiences on drugs(legal obviously) but I've had really bad experiences too!

That doesn't make that drug bad, it meant it didn't work how I wanted it to at that time for me!

If you've ever asked the question... What's the point of it all, you either need God or a good drug

Yes I haven't found anything that quite fits....but had some profound experience on the way.

I can relate to this. I like the way you have explained it.
