Not me, don't you dare look at me
My question is thus, why is attention seeking so frowned upon?
Especially where someones not denying it. For example why have a pop in a kiss avoid thread? etc
Are we not here to attract attention from the opposite sex/ same sex/ both sexes (delete as appropriate).... |

There's a difference between subtle suggestive attention seeking and some of the rather cheese threads. Though let's face it none has to read or respond to those threads;we can just ignore them !
I've no idea if they work but I imagine the sympathy one's don't achieve much? "No one contacts me" etc.
Everyone gets noticed if they participate on the forum...its up to you on the type of attention you get. |

catch 22...
i can give my usual energetic answer or i can just sit here and nod lol
Energetically whenever you interact someone you give away some of your energy ( this is the reason you feel drained around some people i mentioned before)... so people who go out seeking attention are basically out to suck the energy out of people.
On the other hand we are a social species due to thinking part of ourselves meaning every interaction is a form of exchange... so i guess people who cry about attention seekers, have double standards. then again some people don't mind attention if its positively inclined... good or bad is irrelevant at the end of the day one person wants energy the other gives it or doesn't... and this is why you'll often hear love and hate are the same thing. Trick is knowing how to reclaim said energy and be able to redeploy it in a manner and witht he intent you wish... would hate to get stuck in limbo |

I never read those kiss..suck..marry..avoid..punch in the face threads because to me... They are just attention seeking.
9/10 times they are guys who have been here 1 week and put no effort into there profile just wanting a whinge about not getting there leg over.
Harsh but true. |

I am with you on this; answering on a thread sometimes also falls into 'attention seeking'; so what?
My profile here is to seek attention too; and if that fails, then I am hoping that the photograps will |

We are all seeking attention , that's why we are here. Not just the forumites but with our profiles.
They are an advertisement for who we are and what we are looking for. It's just like those messages in the seeking pages in news papers.
Its always great to get a fab . I know you ladies get far more attention than us chaps . Some of it unwelcome I know.
Its always lovely to feel your pictures or profile are appreciated. Its an ego boost even for those who say it doesn't bother them.
As for our threads yes some are just look at me . You all know them , mostly blokes , "what's wrong with (insert body or profile here)
As humans on a basic lever we all seek approval and attention , it hard wired into us .
As for you OP , I may just have another peek at your profile , lol

I think it's hilarious when people do this. They want attention and approval for public scathing of other attention seekers There are quite a few who need to feel superior. |

Yes I've noticed the regular scathers. How high their horses must be! My Betsy is only a Shetland pony |

No idea. If someone asks for advice on how to get meets they're told to make themselves stand out from the crowd. If they try to make themselves stand out from the crowd by means of a thread they're called attention seekers. Damned if you do and damned if you don't unless you're a good looking woman or one of the Faberati. |

I think the threads where peopke have to name others they like are a bit cringe worthy at times because some take great offence in not being named...we all attention seek to an extent by our profiles there is nothing wrong with attention seeking if it's done in a positive fashion. |

Not sure I frown as such. There are different sorts of look at me threads... the nonsense ones I don't mind but when people are doing that whole 'look at my pics, am I attractive' stuff I'm unimpressed. It's too needy for my tastes. I'm all for asking opinions on things but when it's a bit shallow it comes over as desperately fishing for compliments or validation. That's not an attractive trait for me. |

Surely we are all attention seeking in some shape or form. Some via photos some via their forum posting style.
Threads can go one or two ways depending on who the OP is, how they interact with the comments made & how some of the more opinionated / influential forumites post..... |

Well I wouldn't be mean but I might insert some sarcasm or cheek. I don't think I'd comment specifically to say 'attention whore alert' although that has a certain appeal. |
