Do you think places should have it clearly displayed if they don't take cards or only take cards overna certain amount?

It's annoying in bars. Usually, they have those ATMs with extortionate transaction fees. Takes the piss.

This really annoys me. I think it is worse in the UK too...there should be signs, and I have been in situations where there weren't.

Took me a long time to get used to transaction fees here too. In the US it is illegal for a company to charge you extra for using a credit or debit card.

"They do don't they? I often see signs saying "cash only""
went to a lunchtime cafe on holiday bill came to about £15 went to pay and the guy said he would have to round it up to £20 as they didn't take cards under £20.

When I politely asked where this was displayed he changed his tune but mubbled something like a lot of places do it.

That sounds like he was trying it on instead of it being standard practice

I went to a place in Switzerland that added on a service charge per person. It wasn't advertised until I received the bill. Cheeky.

We've got a big sign up where I work saying no card transactions under £5. No one reads it. M

We've also got a bright red sign that's 3 foot long and about a foot high stuck to the front of the hot counter saying 'caution, hot' people don't read that either!

but its their own fault, if the notice about the cards wasn't there how would they know?
