My dad was such a great guy.

He always made the time.

For me and little sister.

Life really was sublime.

He'd make us laugh and smile, and show us how to love.

The world, and people round us and everything above.

He really cared and listened to what we had ta say.

And that great man, he made us,some of what we are today.

But nature is a cruel bitch, and only takes the best.

And long ago it may have been, she took him down to rest.

Its over 30 years now dad,

And i still miss you everyday.

But still remember your great smile and what you had to say.

Today would have been your birthday and I still remember you.

As if it all was yesterday, to your memory I am true

So daddy if ya hear my voice, I have one thing to say.

To me you were the greatest, happy birthday xx

.

.

Its been 36 years since my dad passed

I was 10 and my sister was 3

He died on the 12th of December

.

.

The reason for this thread is to remember all the people who have lost loved ones around this time of year

Love to you all

.

.

Craig xx

Both of my parents are gone. My mum was 40 and my dad 50 when they had me. They had always wanted a little girl and decided to have one last try and my mum, even though she would have been happy with a healthy baby boy to add to her brood of 2 other boys, she was holding out hope for a little girl. Luckily she got her wish (though she dressed me in satin and lace and ribbons all the time and its her fault im still into "princesses" at 43 lol).

I knew Id lose them earlier than most kids but they were wonderful parents. They did spoil me and kept me close and up to the time they died I was still visiting my parents 5 days out of 7 and talking on the phone probably twice a day.

My dad died first in hospital, me and mum were with him. My brothers got to the hospital too late. Dad died with me and mum holding his hands.

My mum died of a sudden heart attack 8 years ago, on holiday with me and my boys in a caravan in Mabelthorpe. It was sudden and whilst my 12 year old ran to the reception of the Haven holiday site to get help, my mum died in my arms. I miss them both every day but I am happy that I was with them when they left this world and my face was the last face both of them saw.

Right better go and wipe the tears from my face now and get on and post drivel like I usually do

Absolutely lovely poem Craig, I have read it quite a few times now - even though your dad wasnt with you as long as other kids father's, at least your short time with him was spent with lovely memories

Such lovely words craig, was my moms anniversary last week, it's been 3 years and still doesn't get easier, but I believe she's always with me. I take comfort in that, but I miss her so much, not just my mom but my best friend.

God bless xxxx

I still have both my parents (mum & stepdad, real father is alive too but haven't seen him for 20 years).

My mum's mum was born on Xmas Day and she died on Boxing Day. She loved Christmas but always complained she only got one present from everybody. She'd loved to have her b/day in the Spring or Summer.

My other three grandparents went long ago, I hardly remember their faces, but it's my own mum I'll miss the most when she goes as we're very close. Let's hope that's not for a good long while yet.

Great poem Craig, it really touched me man.

That made me cry. My best friend has an inoperable brain tumour and at the moment he is doing ok, but he is living on borrowed time. In March they gave him 9 to 12 months and he's back at the hospital for more scan results next week. Just goes to show you've got to make the most of people while you can 'cos you just don't know how long any of us have got on this earth. i'm treasuring every minute I spend with him and that's what we all should do with our loved ones.x

Beautiful Post Craig,

I lost my sister to cancer 14 years ago next March, She was only 30

She left behind three very young children, which my Mum to this day has brought up, a hard job at the best of times, but had to be done.

23 years ago one of my closest friends was killed by a d*unk driver two weeks before christmas, she left a 4 year old and a 6 year old. Her funeral was day before christmas eve. Always tough at this time of year no matter how long ago.

Jay lost his mum on boxing day when he was 15 and still thinks about it now 52 years later

Big hugs to you craigxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Don't miss my dad as such, as I left home when I was 14, and saw my folks once every 2-3y when I was an adult.

However, I still miss my late partner dearly 2y after his sudden death due to a boating accident.

Onwards and upwards, as I know he would not want to see me being sad.
