Johnny Marr is in a strop and has thrown his toys out of his pram because David Cameron likes The Smiths...this is worthy news for the Guardian it seems!
What musician 'choses' their fan base...they play a sound and the folk that listen to it either like it or they don't!
I hardly think Cameron's announcement is going to turn of a load of Labour loving listeners...it's not as if the Smith's tailored their music for a Conservative Britain. They certainly never hid their distaste for anything and everything Thatcher!
I'm sure he doesn't fuss so much when the royalties are rolling in...i'm sure then he doesn't say "hang on, who's buying this?"
...and I am a Smith's fan, just find his "stop liking us" tweet to be churlish and ridiculous.
