ok this made be posted in the area, so apologies if it is
THIS IS NOT TO BE USED AS BASH THE MODS! If you reply do not involve mods in anyway shape or form... this is what would you do as a user!
You in the General chat room..... no mods available....
People are directing and generally making a nuisance of themselves...
What would you do?
Would you remind them that they are in the general chat room and to try the directing rooms....
OR... do you ignore it...
Myself... I reminded people and for my troubles I got told I was attention seeking, spitting my dummy out etc etc
So...back to the topic heading... would you say I was attention seeking? |

I wouldn't say it was. The mods can't be there all the time so sometimes it is upto the room users to speak up.
but sometimes the people who are being directed ..LOVE IT !!!and encourage it, if they blocked and stopped replying/answering in the room or whispers, the offender would get bored and head to the directing room.
so you may be on a road to nowhere.

No, I wouldn't say you were attention seeking.
The good thing about Fab chat rooms I found when we first joined was that chatters when no mods were in would tell people " you are in the wrong room" etc when others directed. Most of the time it would stop the person in their tracks and they would leave chat or shut up directing.... the down side is that people might take no notice as you are not a mod and will just carry on anyway.
The best thing to do and I know people get bored of hearing it, but it is the only way things can be dealt with......REPORT the user if they carry on, they will get a ban that way, even if it isn't at the time they are directing and then block. |

PS. People do need to be careful of how they ask others not to direct, if you are abusive in any way it would be you being banned, oh and obviously if a mod is in then there is no need anyway |

I don't use the chat rooms, so forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by "directing"?
I have looked in on chat a few times but the text goes far too quick for a thicko like me to keep up with it. Also I tried to join in but was ignored.
Have to say I did get a welcome in Irish chat, but much prefer the forums |

Directing is teklling people what to do (take off your bra, or are you going on cam tonight).
I use the chat rooms quite a lot and have met some great people, it never fails to astonish me that people don't 'out' whisperers who direct and are annoying, but then people rarely whisper me......... |

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else |
Just as an aside, I was in General chat the other day when a lady was warned by a mod for encouraging directing, when my _iew was that the conversation had been instigated by others and she was just being non-committal.
So, having a mod present is no guarantee of a proper solution.
