She was so talkative...

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I've just been leafing through a fascinating old Bible from 1779 and had to laugh when it came to its description of Eve and the serpent...

"she was so talkative that she entered into conversation with the serpent"

Lol So have women always been so talkative? Over to you ladies. Are you a big talker or not?

Hereabouts

At first, especially around more than one or two people, I'm very quiet. I'm the 'smile and nod' type person.

But once I'm comfortable (which doesn't take long), I talk practically non stop. Sometimes I talk too much and end up sounding like I'm talking about really random shit because my train of thought only makes sense to me. Half the time I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I always think its funny on this site when a picture of a mostly naked butt tells me she is shy. I know the two aren't related, I just chuckle a little

Hey mp, you do know the bible is all metaphors right....

Jc didn't personally feed 5000, with a couple of loaves. It means, when he brought out his bread, so did all the tight wads...

So, this one is a metaphor also. The old scribes were punished if they used words like ' horny', so they use polite, Sunday dinner with the family- type expressions.

As for, serpent. Think trouser snake

Some of the posts here made me smile. I love women who talk a lot, because I don't, it's so nice to just listen without any requirement for input. Plus, whenever I talk, I just seem to dig myself into trouble haha

Blimey, you can't win with some people!

The first woman, Lilith, gets kicked out for liking sex too much,

her replacement, Eve, gets into trouble for wanting to better herself through education,

next they'll be saying women have to keep their heads covered in case they inflame men's desires!

Oh wait, Paul DID say that didn't he.

Kinda puts those Taliban into persepective....

"So she dropped to her knees and sucked Adam's cock? "

If I remember correctly, Lilith's problem was more that she liked going on top and having orgasms.

Damned harlot!

Religion would be much more up my street if they'd not extradited Lilith from the sounds of things, and when they introduced Eve (for no reason, because Lilith was still around) added another bloke and let things start to get kinkier

Agreed. I was hoping everyone would take it with a pinch of salt... which they have I guess it just tickled me to see this written in old text in a 1776 Bible. It's obviously a whole load of balony... but I love the idea of Eve nattering away to the serpent. I guess its the earliest ever depiction of women as gossips. Shows how old some of this misogyny is

Me? I like a woman who talks her mind

Imagine the scene. A lone serpent, minding his own business hangs his little snakey head down from a tree.

Enter Eve:

Ooh hello ducks, lovely day in the garden of Eden today isn't it. Might put me washing out it's so nice. Ere,did you hear about old Lilith?? Ooh,nasty one she was. What's that? Do I fancy an apple? Oh go on then, seeing as you're so insistent.

That's brilliant. I knew several people (some happened to be women, some happened to be men) who, had they been Eve, that is exactly how the conversation would have been

"Who the fick is Lilith?"

She comes from the best part of organised religious teachings: the middle ages - when church leaders threw away the bible and just made it up, safe in the knowledge that no-one could read the bible and disprove whatever they said.

Then some difficult buggar called Luther translated it into common language and the shit hit the fan.

Women have been enjoying sex, going to school, and brazenly tossing their tresses about ever since.
