Face Off is one of my favourite films. John Travolta is very hot too. |

"These two are on par as the worst actors ever. No emotion in any of their faces! I guess that is why only decent performance was Matrix. "
Hal-a-bloody-luyah!
For years, I've discussed how bad these actors are at acting, well Nick Cage in particular!
Not disputing that NC has been in many fantastic, great films! I've enjoyed many of them.
But his acting skills unfortunately do not cut it for me. And I'm sure he keeps the same accent for every role he plays! (Captain Corelli's Mandolin springs to mind) and Keanu, sure he reserves his Bill & Ted accent for all roles. #Now Brad Pitt was a terrible actor, until he took a supporting role in seven and learnt from Morgan Freeman. And his performances from there went from strength to strength. 12 Monkeys and in Snatch was quality! #D'ya loike dags!
No doubt being Francis Ford Coppola's nephew has helped his career. A living example of who you know!
But yes, great films, perhaps a nice guy but a great actor I think not. |

Agreed! I think both are nice people and no doubt have been in some decent movies. However, that was mainly due to support actors and a good storyline. They both seem inept in showing true emotion. Like a plank of wood trying to cry. What brought this on was watching 'Rage' an obvious rip off of 'Taken' he looked about as grief stricken as Ronald McDonald. |

Haha it was this kind of thing that steered me away from Hollywood movies and to watch World Cinema. Some great films out there and really enjoyed Amores Perros and even El Mariachi which was done by Rodiguez on a $20k shoestring budget. Obviously he got a larger budget when they remade the film as Desperado with Banderos.
I have lightened up a bit now, as I was once told at the cinema to stop analysing films and just watch them.
So I do try to watch them with a pinch of salt and enjoy. Even if it is one man taking on 200 men in one go and winning.
Not saying that's far fetched, as I do know that only Bruce Lee could do this! |

If you're starting the wooden acting pile, then there must be room for bond and bond- ie, Roger Moore- a man who was out acted by his spitting image puppet and Sean Connery, who basically turns up to any film and plays the part of Sean Connery. |

You mean you weren't sold on Connery's performance in highlander as Juan Carlos from Spain...just past Leith????
Lol
Back to reeves v cage- it's a titanic battle for duff actor awards...so evenly matched I don't know which will land the knockout blow. |

8mm, Con Air, Face Off all brilliant Cage films
Point Break, Bill and Ted (oy stop laughing you lot, I liked it!), and the Matrix all fantastic Reeves films
If you need to slate anyone then put Russell Crowe in the stocks...hes a right talentless moron! |

Yep, enjoyed all of those films above.
And I've enjoyed quite a few of Crowe's films. LA Confidential was good.
Now talentless for me was Mark Wahlberg as a rapper, but an actor. A completely different person. So glad he left the funky bunch and found his niche.
If you flip this and think of great actors, then I don't think you can do much better than Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walker. Their trailor park scene in True Romance was absolutely epic! |

Keanu is not just a gorgeous man but also a great actor and a beautiful generous human being.
Has helped lots of people, gives loads to charity and does it all discreetly not looking for fame or notoriety. |

It is!
One is a total plank....the other a dead stick.
Con Air could have been good......bit Nic Cage...? Could have (might have?) been replaced by a cardboard cut out! |

Walken, not Walker. Damn auto-correct.
Keanu yes good looking and does a lot of great work outside of his...ahem...acting. Has been in some great films. But a great actor, I think not. |

Didn't see any mention of NC in Raising Arizona!
Maybe the humor is too American-centric but I thought it was a fabulous/hilarious flick and he was perfect in it.
I watched it once with an Irish lass and she just didn't get the humor.
I lived in New Hampshire USA for years, remote place, lots of dead fridges & washing machines in front yards, car engines hanging by chain from trees. My next door neighbor (I had 22 acres of land so next door is a relative term) created an incident when he buried his dead father too close to his dug well. Police, rifles, double wide trailer, "come and get me" yells from the woods - skinny dumb cop with an ill fitting uniform - all very Raising Arizona ish behavior.
No respect from Fabbers or Raising Arizona?

Aww dude... Keanu is a great human being. Who cares if he makes a living showing up in movies that don't make the Top Ten most predictable movies of all time? He's just an awesome guy. Wish I could make a living like his. |

"Recently watched "the day the earth stood still" and was pleasantly surprised by KR's performance."
Same here, I'm a fan of the original, so went in with low expectations, but I liked it, and KR. |

I don't have a bad word to say against Keanu, as listed many times above. Just personally think he's put on some great performances and had done a lot of nice things under the radar.
I don't hate Nic, but am not much of a fan of the films he's been in. ("Not the bees! NOT THE BEES!! ARRGHHH!!!")
I'll admit though, having missed out on our 'One True God' Nic playing Superman is a shame. That might've been hilarious. Still, at least there's pictures of him suited up! |

Acting is about conveying an emotion and a screen presence!
Most actors accents never change
Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Micheal Caine, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Cary grant, joe peschi, Robert deniro,al pachino... There all terrible with accents
nic cage really sticks to his southern drawl, but he's done incredible emotional films , leaving las Vegas,8mm, raising Arizona, face off, knowing, lord of war, captain correlis mandolin.
In fact as acting goes he's got one of the best résumés from comedy to serious to romance to blockbuster.
Keaneu reeves I can't help you with though |

Kind of agree with the resume, as he has starred in fantastic films (Thanks Uncle Franc!) and a broad genre of film in his portfolio.
But how many CVs have we read that look fantastic, but didn't quite deliver in reality? I'm sure communism looked great on paper as well.
Not sure how many Italian Captain's I've heard with a Deep South American Accent as well! Dina Zoff, Franco Barresi and Roberto Baggio certainly never! |

Haha I was waiting for someone to mention Tom.
I think he has slightly improved over the years. But maybe that because he set the bar so low from the start, there was surely only one way to go.
I think Cocktail was my guilty pleasure #Shhhhush |

Never liked The Matrix *shrugs
Vampire's Kiss and The Wicker Man are hilarious but Nic has been in some good films
Keanu is bodacious but sadly doesn't look like he is going to win best actor any time soon |

He's been in some good films but only by virtue of not ruining them personally. I liked minority report and the firm.
But he added nothing to those roles and his wooden face has sabotaged many a good script. He just seems to look like he's smelling a fart all the time. Let's face it, mission impossible is a poor man's James Bond. |
