Ashley Madison Quelle surprise (not)

A new analysis of the data shows that nearly all the female accounts were fictitious. From the analysis:
There are 5.5 million female profiles on the Ashley Madison website - in comparison to 31m male profiles - and Newlitz reported that only 12,000 of those 5.5m female accounts had ever used the site after creating a profile.
Newlitz reported that these figures are not surprising, given that a former Ashley Madison employee sued the company for 'repetitive stress injury' after allegedly being hired to create 1,000 fake profiles in three months.

Women are used as bait in a lot of areas of the internet, and the real world. I'm wondering, with so few actual women on there, how many men were guilty of having an affair. |

By the time you've pasted, surely it's equally as quick to just type 'fancy a fuck?' |

Some of the male profiles could have been made up to boost numbers at the beginning. People like something that looks popular. Who wants to be the first person to join up to a dating site? They must open with profiles already up.and running |

Depends on the relationship. Just the act of signing up to an affair site would be enough reason for some people to split up. |

I made one to see if a partner was on there. So they might not be fake made by the site, but my profile was kind of fake coz i wasn't looking for anything on there. |

"I'm curious, how does one set up a site like that? With those numbers ALOT of money could be made. Hmmmm I smell an opportunity "
AM was no different to a number of sex sites on the web. They just had good PR.
I'm not so comfortable using the term 'fraud' as not sure how it would apply in that instance but its certainly fraudulent misrepresentation.
I'm pretty sure a guy was convicted in the UK a few years back for running a similar operation. All the females were not real. |
