copy and pasted ... verifications

Ive just been contacted by a guy who has copied and pasted all his verification onto his profile?

He says its to protect the identity of others???

1) surely if they wanted to be protected they wouldn't have verified him in the first place?

2) what would he be protecting them from exactly?

I know not everyone uses or even takes any notice of this system...

and in actual fact most are written in the rosy aftermath and the reality of what someone is really like soon kicks in afterwards...

But even so I personally make a point of reading verifications, as it proves someone is real, reliable, non pushy etc.

He doesnt seem to get the importance..

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I don't see the point of that as he could have written them himself. It just acts as another filter. It's his profile and he operates it the way he wants to.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Perhaps it's so he has them saved in case the other parties leave the site or block him for some reason.

I wouldn't take any notice of them as verifications.

We would completely ignore them as a realistic guide to him .

If his summary tallies with them I guess that could be different , but really can't see the point .

Edinburgh

I'm off to write myself a big, fabulous, glowing report and stick it on my profile. It is Thursday after all.

I would never trust a veri pasted onto profile text. People could make them up.

Mine are all true though... obviously....

It's a brilliant filter. Some people believe they are real.

I have both - a couple of my favourite veris were from people who left the site so I saved them.

To protect the identity of others? When ever Iv seen copy and paste verifications, they add the name and age along with the veri.

The number of threads about verifications makes me think we should just have a handful of standard verifications.

How many would we need?

I liked Seawitch's suggestion of the eBay one... turned up, looked like pics, didn't murder me.

Thames Ditton surrey

Interesting thread - I have copied and pasted veries on my profile with the name the user was using at the time - As well as other in my verifications - I do it as a lot of people join stay for a while then leave and as I guy I thought it was helpful to try and confirm my details / experience - Certainly it would tie up with the number of verifications which still includes those who have verified and left.

Will certainly think about it

I wouldn't pay any attention to them either, and they'd make me think twice about chatting with someone... Unless he's got the verification summary showing he's actually met people...

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

"I do it as a lot of people join stay for a while then leave"

That's a good reason for copying them, and I wish I'd done that.

However, that can easily be saved offline, or you could even mail them to yourself to keep them accessible within the site.
