There's a story on Facebook about people waiting a hour for food, so they didn't leave a tip, that's a cardinal sin over there as their min wage is about £4 a hour. Ours goes up to £6.70 in Oct.
Sooooooo, do you tip?
Personally I don't, unless they have gone above and beyond, then I may round the bill up to the nearest £5. |

I don't tip. Waiting staff in this country get minimum wage. I worked in minimum wage retail jobs for years - nobody ever tipped me for bagging up their baked beans really efficiently because that was my job.
Min wage sucks but nobody else should be expected to fill in the gaps with tips. I'd gladly fight for a living wage for all low earners though. |

In this country staff are paid properly, in other countries tipping is a part of the culture. Had a big debate with an American friend about it.
If a breakfast is $3 and you're expected to tip $2 on top, then the bloody breakfast is $5! I'd rather it said $5 on the price board rather than having to guess how much is 'enough'.
In the UK things are priced correctly and staff are compensated reasonably. We don't get the false sucking up that they get in America here as a result and it's so much better knowing a pleasant conversation with staff is because you gained a rapport with them rather than someone being false to increase the tip.
Also, I'm a Yorkshireman and so tight I only ever breathe in. |

For good service (politeness, helpfulness, speed, attentiveness) in a restaurant I'll tip 10%. I'll never tip a taxi driver though. Nothing personal, I don't see any way in which they can provide good service other than not to crash the fucking taxi (to date 3 times now!!)  |

All of them? There's me thinking folk talk to each other regardless of what job they're in. They do up here, got chatting to a lovely family yesterday while visiting a castle, they weren't after a tip. It's how we do things in the North, we talk to each other. You Southern types should try it sometime  |
