Last night the unions called of the tube strikes that have impacted London this summer.
However being a union person myself I did notice the small print that said that 2 new strikes were set up for 2 weeks time. After reading and watching the press report it I found very little on this.
I appreciate that the unions want to ensure that the management have something to negotiate but it does start to feel that the union is holding a gun to the mangers.
Now I know what a lot of you say, it's money, safe working etc, impact on lives but really the tube unions have been far to militant for my liking for to long
Just wonder what other people's thoughts were on this |

I'm not affected by the strikes so it's probably easier for me to support them, i'll just mention this.
I'm very much aware of our history on workers rights. People actually died for asking for enough food to eat, they were murdered just for that. That's how little rights people had.
I'm also aware that although unions have been necessary for us to have fairly reasonable conditions for workers (no government ever made regulations without being pressured to do so btw), there is still a system in place where people are not given a fair deal while in employment. If workers feel they are not getting a fair deal and their employers will not listen to them without them striking then let them strike. We all lose out if people don't fight for what they need because hardly anyone gives you anything in this life if they don't have to. |

OP, it was mentioned on the local news when the RMT guy was interviewed..
in effect he is letting them (and the public) know that the issue is still a live one maybe to focus the attention of LUL at the talks..
also possibly as the dates have been announced as per the legislation etc they may not want to fully cancel them as then they may have to re ballot? |
