"Why do people feel the need to belong to a Religion, cult, philosophy etc. It take courage and energy to stand alone and seek the truth for yourself, when it is from a book or passed down by word of mouth, it becomes polluted by the ideals and opinions of others. Why not seek for yourself, by yourself, then it is in you and unquestionable, and there is no fear leading to violence to defend it. Don't listen to me or anybody else, find out for yourself." well even if you look for yourself, how you will do that without to listen to somebody or read a book ?

But you want people to listen to you and do what you're doing. None of us exist in a vacuum and true original thinkers are rare indeed. Lots of people find their personal spirituality within themselves, more than you might think.

I don't want anything from people, just offering help to get people started if they are interested, the it's up to them to search. I'm opening this up for discussion, so we can enquire together, no need to be assumptive of me.

I didn't say you want anything from people but I am trying to open up the discussion with my opinion that by saying that people should think the way you think is asking them to listen to you......we can never escape that connection with others and be genuinely original thinkers. You also told me I was making assumptions about you thereby not allowing me freedom of thought. I am a huge advocate of finding ones own spiritual path but it's unlikely that it will be entirely original....in my opinion.

"Call it cave man syndrome if you like. In a nutshell mankind will always run I a 'pack' or a 'tribe', safety in numbers so to speak. I could talk all night about this thread. Nice one Evolution takes too long, we haven't evolved since we were in caves, we have technology etc, but psychologically, we are the same, countless wars over thousands of years prove this, fear, anger, violence, all these traits have caused us so much grief, yet we still cling to them, are we trapped in our own animal past. Maybe there is a way to move from this by seeing through it, that's what I'm looking for, changing the mind in an instant. In an instant? Yes I can relate to that, however for me to see the world for what it really is and make a life changing decision in an instant took experience of all of those things you mentioned, fear, anger violence and war. The human condition, the circle of life is we want peace after we have experienced the worst of life, I believe we are meant to suffer in order to sustain. You want a miracle and that is why we have religion, hope. Reading you comment, I note the word " want", is that part of the problem? Want? Maybe it is, but then it's only natural to want. Here is a question for you , why is it when we have a close shave with death we sat 'oh my god!' ? Learned habit? Maybe. As being brought up as a catholic I feel it is mental conditioning from an early age. Without getting into religion and straight back to your previous statement about changing the mind in an instant, you do know there is a name for that? " Not sure I do, enlighten me please.

"I dont belong to any as I am not a beleiver " You're a self body worshipper. If you eat cake and spoil your body muscle diet, you'll have to spank yourself.
Don't listen to me or anybody else, find out for yourself. None of us exist in a vacuum and true original thinkers are rare indeed. " I thought that too......

"Call it cave man syndrome if you like. In a nutshell mankind will always run I a 'pack' or a 'tribe', safety in numbers so to speak. Man surrounds himself with like minded folk and his group will turn on others, just take a look throughout history. I think I've just had an david Attenborough moment! Do you feel it may be possible for us to break away from our cave people roots, haven't we got the intelligence to do that? we have identified it for a start. "No self interest Self is fulfilled - LAO TZU Yeah I don't always agree with him , No interest in self one does not know if one is fulfilled or not Quantum zen or as above the tao of schrodinger " I don't always agree or understand most of it but then I am not enlightened. Who is? But on that one if you are self fulfilled then you have no need or interest in self. Like when you''ve eaten you have no interest in food. But anyway, The Silence Of the Tao was always my favourite to read but mislaid it ages ago. Must get another copy
"Seek the truth about what?" The entire universe.

"Total truth seeking junky here Always think things through and pursue logic to wherever it leads, see the bigger picture of what conclusions you're leading to, recognise what you can know and what you can't, open yourself to new experiences that challenge you, never take someone elses word for it, always keep an open ear for wisdom from the least likely sources, never accept or reject something purely due to peer pressure, always pass your thinking by your gut and your heart to see what they have to say on it, and above all... test test test and retest your beliefs over and over again, throw them to the wolves, and see what survives all that. Whatever does... is more true than the rest " Question everything, never stop learning, two maxims I live by.
"Oh and I forgot the most important one... sometimes just chill out, lie back, let your mind go silent, and see what comes to you " Try the exercise above.

I was just thinking mainly that you're probably best off telling us what happens to you and letting us know what you're getting at rather than expecting to replicate whatever it is you're trying to say in someone else. Aside from that there were various random thoughts floating around as usual. A stream of thoughts tinkling around in the nooosphere lol

Sorry dude but I don't think its gonna work in this kind of forum format. I love the idea of you chilling out with some old Indian dude and I'm keen to know what wonderful pearls of wisdom he imparted on you. But this kind of thing just can't be replicated on cyberspace. I can't see your face. I can't hear the intonation of your words. I'm missing loads of extra sensory information that would normally help me figure out what you were asking me but when I read your words "observe your thoughts" I'm afraid it merely translates as "observe your thoughts" which is pretty much what I'm doing 24/7. If you're gonna take someone on this journey via text alone I'd recommend you develop more of a conversational enchanting storytelling manner, filling out the textual journey somewhat with ways of thinking and ways of looking and helping lead them towards whatever it is you're hoping to reveal to them that way... its kinda how books work All the best
