4 weeks after busting 3 ribs, I'm through the excruciating pain bit, and have started to train again albeit very light (no pull-ups at the moment lol) I'm still in a lot of pain, can't get comfortable and I'm fed up. If I don't train, I'm agitated and bored. My friends have been fabulous, very gentle and doing most of the work lol, but, a bit like training, I need physical sex. Any medical types on here? Pain isn't an issue, just wondering, can I do any damage if I grow some grit my teeth and go for it (in the gym I mean), not in my nature to be a pussy, but don't want to set myself back.......help |

I've fractured my ribs before it was one of the most painful fractures ever as it lasts for weeks. I was still bracing myself when I sneezed months later.
I would suggest you seek advice from your GP first and if okay maybe book a recommended personal trainer who could help you put a programme together during your recovery period.
Good luck x |

For sure you have to wait for a fracture -train your legs maybe lol? I still could not lie on my latest rib injury after 3 months and we reckon I'd torn all the intercostal ligaments. They take even longer than bone to heal. |

Have you tried one of those vibration plates? Instead of intensive resistance workouts the vibration plate machines work on the tendons and/or specific muscle groups. Some of them are better than others (just to say), their vibration and oscillation speeds differ greatly - the better ones offer tri-plane oscillations. |

how about you go to a swimming pool and relax in a Jacuzzi..just the feelings of being weightless and bubbles might help..the support of the water, might let you do some physical movements..walking slowly through it etc so you feel you ve had some exercise
sorry you've been injured,
maybe you could see it as a lesson in endurance of a different kind xx |

If you go back to doing strenuous exercise too soon after fracturing ribs, there's a very real danger that you could re-break one or more and get internal injuries as a result. Your heart and/or lungs could be pierced by a fractured bone and you would die fairly rapidly. Is it really worth taking the chance? |

Cheers guys, had a lazy day today and going to take it steady, to answer spirit, sadly I fell onto a cast iron chair in the garden and, worse still, was completely sober, and licketty, think you know the answer to that |
