Well I hope it goes smoothly and she gets a good send-off....
I find it quite reassuring there are still people who can see beyond the small things in life....

Why is it in Liverpool? She got out of their as soon as she made enough money, just like Tarby, Starr, McCartney etc. Then never stopped telling us how great the place was. From their home in Berkshire. |

They retired to more luxurious surroundings but Liverpool made them |

Because Berkshire was more convenient for her husband , her and her family doesn't mean she didn't love Liverpool.

P.S. I was never a Cilla fan but can't pretend to hate someone I never knew or sully her memory like she was some kind of blood sucking politician or pedophile.
Here lies Cilla the Singer.
That's all she wanted on her stone. Many people loved her and she's done nothing bad of note.

Seems a bit odd to take a day off work to attend the funeral,of someone who just enjoyed doing what they did .
I certainly wouldn't be happy as an employer if half my workforce took the day off for Cillas funeral unless they were relatives or close friends of her .
Mind you I felt the same way with Princess Dianas funeral too , so maybe I am just heartless . |

I wouldn't take a day off to do it.
Wouldn't do it if I was on a day off.
Wouldn't give others permission to go.
Don't understand why anyone would go.
But............ Someone who had done above and beyond for community i'd doff my cap and show myself to increase the numbers.
I guess many think she's worth it and some have nowt else to do.
I wouldn't mind but she'll be in a coffin. What's to see ? |

I'm not having a dig at her. She was an average MOR singer, and a light entertainer. I just fail to see why she would be held in such high regard to scousers. Still, I don't think Tarby would be welcomed back, unless they were actually burying him. |

"Cilla was tory who was up thatchers arse "
The significance of that being an opportunity for making insensitive remarks on the day of her funeral ?
Really..... is it worth it....?

She wasn't even MOR. When she hit the high notes I thought paint would peel from my skirtings. |

Was does 'up Thatcher's arse mean ?
I guess in every day language it means she followed Tory policies and thought they would do best for the country.
Are you up Millibands arse ? |

"I have to say I'm somewhat perplexed that there was live TV coverage. Seems over the top but no doubt it will become the norm now for celebrity deaths"
Although I watched it and understand for many people it was a respectful and fitting tribute .....
I must admit to hoping we've not entered the era of the televised celebrity funeral ....

I didn't realise it was live on the TV, although I wouldn't have watched it even if I had known.
What I did find strange was what I had saw on the news of a different funeral a few weeks back and then today of people at the side of the road filming and taking photos of the funeral procession, what is all that about |
