Hate text speak with a passion! I've never used it, and never will, in texts or online etc... The occasional spelling mistake / Typo / autocorrect isnt too bad, but blatant text speak just gets people ignored lol |

I'm hoping its text speak, I'm not very good with spelling, don't know why, it just won't go into my head, I've tried on many occasions to concentrate on my spelling and writing, I can read fine, I love to read, but when I write stuff down I spell the simplest of words wrong, and if you can't find any spelling mistakes in this body of text, it's because my iPhone takes all the stress out of messaging so it's not always because of people being thick, sometimes there is a genuine reason for poor spelling, and those grammar nazis who enforce spelling and grammar or no nooki nooki, well done, you just made people with genuine problems feel like shit, oh well |

The point to be made is that language isn't static, preserved in aspic for future generations.
The language of Shakespeare sounds odd, that of Chaucer almost alien... and before the Anglo-Saxons invented punctuation sentenceswerewrittenlikethis.
The only certainty in life is change. |

"Interesting comments,I'm no English teacher but it annoys me all the same and it happens a lot even though we can preview messages"
respect that's your position, some will also be 'annoyed' by bad grammar and poor punctuation..

I think one goes in hand with the other
I have always found that the majority of people who use text chat are usually under educated people who possibably use text chat because its easier for them
I could be wrong but in my experience that seems to be the case |

But I he rate of change has increased. Different generations are finding it hard to communicate. And it will be a sad day for literature when textspeak is used in poetry. |

"text speak should stay where it belongs on mobile phones, i see profiles done in text speak there is no need for it"
Text speak originated because text messages used to be restricted to small sizes and cost 10p. Now 10p was a lot of money for a 'lol' back in my day, I can tell you.
Today most networks have bundles containing more texts than you can shake a stick at, let alone use in a month.
In other words, there's no need for it anymore. |

God I can't even tell you how many messages we get that consist of either one word, or just some badly typed, badly spelt pap...
Instant delete. It doesn't matter if you are utterly stunning, if you can't even be bothered to write to us like a normal adult then I have no time for you... C x |

i love dyslexic and dyspraxic people. i help them proof read their very intelligent degree, and PHd work, they are amazing, innovative, creative, people.
However, i don't like ignorance and judging before you know someone. 'superiority' syndrome, and making people feel like, they have to justify themselves and their very existence, all the time..its a complete turn off, on every level..
they try very hard with their communication skills, maybe you could get educated, or, try harder, in your people skills |

As I said in earlier post I'm no English teacher and make no reference to anybody in particular and the comment also refers to the option to preview post, and just incase I'm not an academic either and I don't think myself to be better than any body else....txt speak, not using spell check or preview is just lazy |

There's a difference between dyslexic people and typin lk dis 4 a fi yeaaaaaa.
We are both teachers, and we both understand the differences. But when you get a message that reads, and I quote:
"U wna fun yeaa i got big did my u cum yeaaaa"
Well...
I mean...
What the hell do I have to work with there exactly? Instantly that tells you one thing about the person... And it's not that I want to fuck them... C x |
