What do people mean when they say they're looking for 'rugby' type lads? Anybody who has watched the sport would know they come in all shapes and sizes, so I just find it somewhat baffling when I read that in their statuses.....Discuss

I'm similar to the bald number 10 from Ireland. Not sure if he's still in team to be fair. He was at the smaller end of the size spectrum anyway lol.

It's When they don't really know what they're talking about.

Forwards will be normally be heavy, large thighs and tall.

Backs wil normally be the opposite to all of the above. Slim, fast and agile.

World of a difference there really.

Hereford

Rugby players (especially amateur ones) seem to come in most shapes and sizes. Stereotypically in Rugby union thus:

Props: Mostly round and fairly tall. "Lumps"

Hooker: Square. Shorter than the props.

Locks: Beanpole

8 (loose forward in League): A terrifying giant.

Flankers: Gym bros - could possibly also play centre but want an opportunity to squash a scrum/fly half.

Scrum half: Usually small. Attitude problem.

Fly half: Medium height, slim, quick. Best hairstyle on the team.

Centres: Built like flankers but want more glory. Also keen hairstylists.

Wings: Quick, size varies from quaking "milkybar kid" on his first senior XV outing to "fancies himself as Jonah Lomu".

Full back: Often bigger than the winger. Last line of defence and thus is constantly whinging at the rest of the threequarters for allowing that flanker to smash through. Also often has an attitude problem.

Hope this helps.

That's class. I'm a rugby league hooker and square is about right, although the modern rugby league hooker plays more like a 6 or 7 these days so I've also got the attitude problem to go with it lol

You better make sure you hit that rib cage hard and keep running

Back in the dim and distant past when I played League, I also hooked. I play on the wing (union) now, flanker had been mooted but I can't get the hang of those "line out" thingies. My attitude problem helps when I meet "fancies himself as Jonah Lomu".
