And yes. I have hallucinated mildly when I had an infection. It can be worse in the elderly. |

I only have CKD, I don't know anything more than what a patient would know.
The doctors aren't going to lie to you. |

Pez.
Yes more than likely she has a water infection but it could also be a number of other things. Ask them what tests they have ran and what the results were.
It's difficult to assess someone without seeing them.
If in doubt ask for a second opinion. |

Yes she needs medical attention
Best thing to do is let the doctors do their job that way you bear no responsibility |

Frankly OP, If you don't want to believe your Mums doctors, you'd be wasting the valuable time of 111 staff, and any medically trained or qualified staff here too. Doctors are trained to diagnose such things, you, I guess, are not. |

And if she's still got the symptoms after the infection had cleared up then take her to the Drs so they can look for other causes |

Doctors are not GOD'S was the second lesson, I learnt in nursing school.
They do lie!!! My medical training has saved family members lives on two occasions, when I have had to intervene.

What rubbish, delirium is a symptom of infection.
In no way does your comment help or assuage the OPs fears. |

Elderly people with serious urinary tract infection don't exhibit the hallmark sign of fever because their immune system is unable to mount a response to infection due to the effects of aging. In fact, elders often don't exhibit any of the common symptoms – or don't express them to their caregivers.
UTIs in the elderly are often mistaken as the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's, according to NIH, because symptoms include:
Confusion, or delirium-like state
Agitation
Hallucinations
Other behavioral changes
Poor motor skills or dizziness
Falling
Sometimes, these are the only symptoms of a UTI that show up in the elderly—no pain, no fever, no other typical symptoms of a UTI |

"Thanks guys and girls, sorry to all for my reactions, just feel soo useless at the moment.
"
UTI's and kidney infections commonly cause hallucinations. As long as she's being treated correctly there's no cause for concern. I'd assume she'll be on IV fluids and something like Co-Amoxiclav. |

Soo happy! Mum actually remembers who I am again, and had a conversation without her being aggressive and hallucinating! Getting over the worst of the infection what a relief! Thanks everyone for the support the other night |
