Athletic?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I've had it quite a few times recently where people who are more private, so no pictures on their profile but pictures to send, have themselves at 'athletic'.

This is the only indicator for how they look. But every single time when we actually exchange pictures it's clear that they aren't 'athletic'.

I find this frustrating. I understand if you're a sporty person and you don't look sporty but use 'athletic' to reflect your personality. But it just feels like downright dishonesty when someone does look athletic nor are they athletic in their day to day life.

Am I being really shallow or do others feel frustrated by this too?

I understand that any adjectives will have varying meanings. But I at least think athletic outlines a clear sportiness/attitude towards health that the other descriptions do not.

I wonder if on average we women are any more realistic with our descriptions. I know I would hate to meet someone and have then think 'oh dear she's not at all like I was expecting' so I'm fairly factual in my descriptions.

I'm suspicious of any profile that says 'athletic' or other 'desirable' traits such as 'well endowed' if there are no pics. It can be even more suspicious e.g. if they only have a close-up genital pic in the first instance or a chest or nipple pic in the second case - so you're happy to put up pics and you're athletic, but none of your pics back that up? lol

Sumo wrestling is a sport too.

Yes, some people are delusional. Women do it too, (curvy meaning large and lumpy - and I speak as a large and lumpy one - is a common example).

It makes me laugh more than anything else, especially when they post on here moaning about things other people do.

You have to look a bit athletic. A lot of guys ignore it's a body type descriptor and decide because they are fairly strong (in their opinion), or played rugby 20 years ago, or can see a sports field from their house, it makes them athletic.

It doesn't matter if someone is athletic or not, it's whether they look it.

I've struggled with this one for a while. I'm quite overweight at the moment for various reasons (injury mostly) but I still exercise (hard) at least five times a week, most weeks.

I don't look athletic. I look quite fat. But I *am* athletic.

On a profile, though, it's an appearance descriptor. If you don't look athletic it isn't accurate.

I think athletic should be used to describe someone who trains and has a body to reflect it.

Personally I've described myself as slim despite competing in a sport to a very high level... As I'm not ripped anymore (due to injury in Jan) then i wouldn't class myself as athletic. Even though i train 4 nights a week and compete most weekends.

However I'd be less bothered about the description and more bothered about someone having no pics or not willing to share...

Sometimes it is down to how people perceive themselves other times it's just people putting it and hoping to gain something from it.

As long as you discover what the person looks like before you actually go to meet them then it's not worth getting too annoyed over. You may have wasted a little time messaging etc but as long as you don't waste any fuel or rack up any hotel bills you've not lost out.

Ahh the fun of swinging!

"I've had it quite a few times recently where people who are more private, so no pictures on their profile but pictures to send, have themselves at 'athletic'...

Am I being really shallow or do others feel frustrated by this too?

Abso-cocking-lutely.

There's some really deluded men out there. I mean I'm not fit by any stretch of the imagination but I can do better than quite a lot of the supposedly 'athletic' profiles on here.

They need a slap.

*rolls eyes* you could have just used the lol

'Tis my way

*doff bowler*

Oh, you changed your av. I didn't recognise you.

*tears off mask*

Happy now?!

No, I liked the other one better

It's a nice av. Hot

I'll have to go check if I fabbed it."

Hell's bells woman, make up yr mind!

"Maybe darts or golf is their sport ? "

The only 'sport' some 'athletes' here have come close to is a video game of darts

"I consider myself athletic. "

I consider myself a lot of things but there aren't profile options for most of them.

Do you think that Athletic can be seen as a negative thing?

Is it off-putting to a man when a woman is more ripped than him?

Well *pulls an appraising face*, not bad, I suppose.

But most of us manage more adventure before breakfast each day.

And some of us don't even eat breakfast.

I am certainly not athletic but consider my wife to be. She is slim and fit. I smile when I see curvy as to me that is a lady with larger breasts maybe 38d or the likes. But curvy seems to mean a bigger lady! Us guys don't have curvy so maybe beer bellyish, no button for fat either. I think all the descriptions are a bit doubtful to be honest!

"I've had it quite a few times recently where people who are more private, so no pictures on their profile but pictures to send, have themselves at 'athletic'.

"I have athletic legs.

Does that count?"

Same here...from behind athletic. But from front an average middle age belly sagging (breathing in slightly). So am I athletic or average (defo no slim)

You look slim to me.

You have photos so people can make up their own mind.

Choose whichever you think you are.

Perhaps description options for Greek-God or Body of an Adonis would end the confusion although if that were the case I'd still need to see a cock-picture,,,,

Cuz some of them ancient statues have teenie weenie cocks ......

I mean like seriously small.....

The only two descriptions i could put are athletic or slim. I guess i could wing it and put athletic as I'm very cardio fit from running 50 miles a week, but as with most long distance runners, i don't think i could put it if your going for the strict dictionary wording which is Muscular.

Is that the one where it was pointed out if Mo Farah had a profile on here, he couldn't put athletic on his profile as he isn't muscular enough?.

Here's my issue.

I don't have rippling abs and biceps the size of Manhattan but I take great offence to not being called athletic...

I can perform tornado kicks and butterfly kicks, I do stunt work involving demanding physical feats and taking a great deal of punishment take after take, I can kick my leg higher than most people could even attempt and I regularly train for 3 hours at a time.

My body just isn't meant to be ripped... But I'm sure as hell athletic.

It's so tough that what's needed is a panel that sits and gets you guys to parAde for us, get prodded and show your fitness abilities, until we award you the correct descriptor to use.

Sleeping with members of the panel may favour your results. Register now for the next event guys, which will be timed to coincide with a swimming pool event.
