Allo, allo!
Well, we've made it out of Spain, and are briefly passing through France on the way to Italy.
Tonight in Carcassonne.
What on earth is the point of building the largest, best, most-impregnable fort imaginable if, on your first seige, you surrender within 5 days because (and I quote) "it was a bit hot for fighting"
Admittedly though, the food's looking up.
What stereotypes come to your mind when one thinks of things français?

Unfortunately I'm a bit like a character from a 70s Pink Panther cartoon, and am still saying 'Si' instead of 'oui', so haven't quite got the language sorted yet.
All Mediterranean women are sexy and stylish.

I don't mind about off-topic, so long as I'm not getting my arse chewed for some other dodgy post!
Spanish countryside was a bit samey by the end, though the Pyrenees was amazing.
Amazing cities in Spain though, we loved it. |

Mrs ddc has been told she's not allowed to bring her Brie into the car.
Haven't done frottage since me courting days on the Norfolk coast (too cold to get fully naked there)

I liked the scenery through France better. It's much richer than Spain somehow. Greener and the supermarkets are miles better. I loved Barcelona and Valencia though and I'd really like to go back to Ronda. We were in each place for a day at a time and I was working so didn't get to see much. |

I adore France and have always had positive experiences with the French. My first wife was French and I lived in Paris for a while. I would love to retire there one day.
As for stereotypes, I think of guys with bushy moustaches, drinking red wine and smoking Gauloises. My ex wifes uncle was like that to a T! |

I adore France, including Paris. I've never had a bad experience there. In fact I chattered in my schoolgirl French and they were far too polite to laugh.
I am also a recent convert to Italy. Another beautiful country full of lovely people and good food. |

I have to admit to a hate of the French!!! I served with the Royal Navy and knew people who had been attacked by Exocet missiles down south. There was an arms embargo against Argentina which stopped them buying arms but the French supplied 8 missiles and the technicians to fire them at British servicemen free of charge so that the embargo wouldn't be broken. I hate them and make no attempt to hide it. |
