"Seen the Lancaster bomber few years ago the only one left in UK that flys still it has 4 merlin engines now thats power "
Move to Lincolnshire (near RAF Coningsby), and you'll see the BBMF, training regularly |

"I didn't realise there were 18 Spitfires in the country.
Perhaps some are from overseas.
I'll have to ask one of my two Spitfire expert friends now."
There are quite a few around the country, owned by various collectors, museums and a few privately owned machines too. Add to those in the BBMF Collection |

Anyone in Lincolnshire or who fancies a road trip. Go to east Kirkby airfield and the Lincnshire aviation heritage centre. They have a fully functioning lanc' that they taxi around the airfield and park right next to spectators, they then run the engines up.............you'll be very up close and personal to that roar. |

The Rolls Royce Merlin, to me the best sounding aircraft engine there is. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I'm lucky living in Southampton as we get the battle of Britain memorial flight visiting a fair bit. Quite jealous that you're getting to see so many of them all together. It's been a fair few years since I've seen more than two or three Merlin powered aircraft in the air at the same time. |

Yes, me too, astonishing effect. I have been out riding on a summers day and watched one circle and dive in the blue sky over Biggin Hill for ages before one of the air shows. They are very special. |

I would love to have seen that
We used to go to Biggin Hill every year as children
I love the roar of an engine noise that's so loud I feel it right through my body |
