Finally give in and go to the doctor's ?

Being a "manly" man I generally reckon I'll give it five days on death's door before I pick up the phone and brave the booking system to see my doc.

I figure that if I'm not starting to feel better in that time then there must be something worth bothering him and the NHS about

Depends what it is - sometimes it would be foolish to wait 5 days! Being well informed is the key I reckon.

Well a headache isn't always caused by a six inch nail

little house on the praire

I have to go and see mine semi regularly for check ups, so I save stuff up for then.

Can't even remember the last time I went for something else.

When I did my back in at Christmas he prescribed me over the phone which was good.

If it was an emergency I'd ring NHS direct.

I used to be really "good" at not going and coping, then I left it too late and now have CKD. Possibly could've been prevented if I'd sought earlier treatment.

Now I'm never fucking out of the doctors/hospital.

Glastonbury

I was ill for 6 weeks over Xmas and New Year. Very ill. But kept on thinking I'd get better.

I'll spare you the gory details but, when I finally cracked and went to the doctor it turned out I'd somehow picked up a Notifiable Disease and, aside from the anti-microbial horse pills they gave me to nuke my system, there was paperwork from the Council to try and trace my movements.

:/

That'll teach me.

Get to the doctors bud . Before Christmas I put it off and had a really sore chest and cough. Still went hill and dog walking , when I finally went the doc went potty. . If I left it another week I would have had pneumonia lol

See, I don't know how you can "save things up"

With only a ten minute appointment, you're only allowed one thing "wrong with you"

e.g. my brother in law saw his gp about a foot problem, and then asked about his cholesterol. To be told he'd need to bake another appointment.

I don't have a 10 minute appointment, sometimes I'm in there 20 minutes and the longest was an hour and half. He's awsome my doctor and I'd never complain he's running late as I know how he is with me

It depends on how long each ailment takes to discuss. For example, you can get your repeat prescription, get your urine tested, be prescribed a new medication for a known condition and get a referral all in one as these are all straight forward.

If you've a problematic/non straight forward case, you'll have to book a double. You'll appreciate it when they don't miss the cancer diagnosis.

I hardly ever go if I'm ill, I just wait to get better. longest stint was about 7 years not including normal pregnancy visits when I had my children.

Doctor thought some records had been lost
