I was I asked what I consider the thin edge of the wedge question.
Sending a parcel at the Post Office and was asked what was inside, when I asked why, was told that they would refuse to process.
Now call me old fashioned but I thought this was confidential information, that is nothing to do with anyone, except maybe the state if they have a reasonable doubt, but Royal Mail is no longer state owned.
I know there is a current terrorist threat but a a terrorist is hardly going to say it is a bomb, what is happening we are turning into a police state, run by corporations, not a fit way to run our democracy. |

My post office has a list of objects which must by law be notified (batteries, blades, certain chemicals etc). They show me the list, ask if the parcel contains any of those items and deal with it accordingly. They never ask what is in the parcel unless it is something on the list and they have to put a sticker on the parcel.

You can post batteries I think but they won't except lithium iron ones as there's a risk of fire!
Although dpd will take them anyhow along with ups.
When asked what was in it.... You should have said, it's the thin end of a wedge! |

Postal workers used to be bound by the official secrets act, not sure if they still are. So the nature of your parcel should remain confidential.
They usually ask for insurance purposes, they also ask the approximate value for the same reasons. The other reason for asking is to make sure you're not sending a prohibited item through the post. |

They're handling the package, i think they have the right to know what they're handling. Doesn't bother me to tell them what i'm posting.
You could be vague about the package if there's embarrassing things in it. Like i post used undies, when they ask i just say i'm sending clothes. |
