My job is pretty stressful, and my workplace isn't exactly a walk in the park.
I often have to "live" on site, so my work/life balance isn't always ideal.
Fotunately I have a bit of personal space away from work and home, where I can shut out the world, light some incence, study, meditate and read.
When life is driving you slowly insane where is your hide out, what do you do to relax and unwind?
There is no prize for the first person who posts "I have a wank".

I have a w.......oh you said no prize .
I am able to shut my eyes almost anywhere and go off into a little private world but for both of us there is a spot in Ashdown Forest that is spiritual in its essence and that never fails to refresh us there's also a small natural spring we know of that has the same atmosphere but we can't get there as often. |

Cuddling the dogs helps me unwind, they are my wellbeing therapy, I come home from a rubbish day at work and they always wag their tails and are pleased to see me |

My work can be a bit mental thankfully I work with furry babies so when things get to bad I've found myself curled up in the back of a kennel with one of my many dogs for a bloody good cry and hug from one of the dogs if that fails I get home put my music on full blast ear fones on and dance till I wanna throw up lol |

To the beach to get some sun (not in UK). It is very relaxing to lie on the sand, feel the sun on my skin and slowly drift to sleep with the sounds of the ocean. |

"The stables. Nothing like the innocent, gentle, honest spirit of the horse to soothe the human spirit. mucking out?"
I find mucking out quite therapeutic, my body is occupied but my mind is free to think. I also love laying a deep, clean straw bed for a horse, very satisfying lol!

We spend our lives racing the clock, desperate to hit deadlines, seldom more than an arms reach from instant communication, being chased by a deadline.
Too easy to be asked for an immediate answer to a complex problem.
Our quiet time is something very precious.
Let's do more to look after our own mental wellbeing, then we'll be better equipped to help others. |

Agreed! We deliberately called a halt to that and chose quality of life over material stuff it was the best decision we ever made. |

If we look back through the posts so far, it's the simple things that give us our peace, music, animals, children.
There's no need to travel thousands of miles away from home to find tranquility, the peace we need is often found at home, simple and so easy to find.
I remember when I was ill a few years ago, how wonderful it was to come home, sit on the settee and snuggle up with my cats.
I'm aware that last observation may cost me a few man points. I'll take the hit...... |

It took me a long time to finally get my little bit of heaven and a fair bit of money.
Just opening the door and walking in chills me out.
It always smells of incence, so much been lit it's permeated through the whole place. |
