Anyone got one of these at the moment? I eat well and exercise alot and after a week of antibiotics just about shifted a chest infection....I could tell it was still there as I was still wheezing when breathing heavily....the bugger's come round full circle now and is now doing me again! Back to the quacks for me, hope I'm not alone

Yeah. Back to your GP in the expectation of a swift X-ray.

Wheezing etc + dirty sputum (sorry to mention this at breakfast time) need investigation.

one reason why i try and avoid anti biotics - usually end up taking at least 2 courses and then begin to get better - i think my body would have fought the infection itself by then in any way

I've been to the hospital and had an X-ray, was given the all clear then, I did drop a clanger though as told the nurse I think I was allergic to penicillin and I found out afterwards I wasn't!! So I've a feeling the antibiotics regardless how big they were were more like smarties than the real deal! Booked into doctors this morning, pulled my back out coughing last week and chest muscle partly pulled from it too

It will. It'll also (probably) get better if you do nothing.

Manuka honey from a health food shop expensive but kills bacterial infection in the space of a few days.

Take 3 to 4 teaspoons a day

Most respiratory infections are due to viral infections and do not require antibiotics.

Rehydration is good enough.

The clear X-Ray confirms that.

I get throat infections that last weeks. The last one took 6 weeks to clear and I don't get antibiotics for anything like that, even though I was coughing up green lumps. I drank honey and lemon and took paracetamol. Your body can mend itself you have to maintain your body as best you can. I have just been given antibiotics for an ear infection which I will take as I don't want it going to my brain and it's become severe and poisonous very quickly

I think this has been the problem, I've not been coughing up anything green so it's just been having a party on my chest/lungs

I rarely take antibiotics, as personal and pool resistance are high risks.

I've had the pneumonia jab, which may be lifelong protection, as have had chest infections before.

Check out evidence for any 'remedies' offered, as lots of stuff is overhyped, overpriced and not supported by clinical trials or by statistically significant results, compared to doing nothing or placebo effect.

I have a nasty chest infection at the mo. I have to get rid of it swiftly, as I have brittle asthma, so antibiotics and steroids for me.

"I think this has been the problem, I've not been coughing up anything green so it's just been having a party on my chest/lungs"

Get yourself some expectorant cough mixture from the chemist as it will break up whatever is having a party in there and you will be able to cough it up and get rid of it.... If you take cough suppressants it will only prolong the recovery time.... Good luck and hope you feel better soon!!!

I've had a cold for about 10 weeks. Hard dry cough to the point of greying out. Had antibiotics for a week - no good. Been back to docs and she reckons it's post nasal drip so on nasal steroid spray. Had chest xrays last Thursday and waiting for results. I'm sure there is something going around that's effecting a lot of people.

Chemtrail flu.

we have seen this type of an epidemic since the end of 1998 and the beginning of 1999. People have been hacking and coughing with this bizarre illness that does not seem to follow any logical viral or bacterial onset and transition period.

If it was a really bacterial or a viral infection, it would have caused a fever but it didn’t. It lasts for weeks, if not months. Sinus congestion, sinus drainage, cough, fatigue, general malaise. People have been feeling “off”.
