Movies that scared us as a kid (and possibly still now)

Jump to: Newest in thread

Have you ever watched a movie that scared you as a kid?

I'm sure everyone has had a movie that terrified them as a kid and didn't watch it until they were older or maybe never got over the fear.

For example, I couldn't watch Ghostbusters 2 as a kid. As much as I love Ghostbusters, I could not watch this one mainly because of the painting of Vigo the Carpathian. It was just that evil looking stare that was unsettling but when his face protruded from the painting earlier in the film, that was it, I didn't want to watch it anymore. I did watch it again many years later when I was a teenager and have loved the movie ever since.

Feel free to share what was the movie that had you hiding behind the settee.

"Hell raiser "

My mum got me that on video when I was a kid..went away with primary school and came back to it on video as a welcome back present.

I was allowed to watch horrors and whatever from pretty much any age so as a result they never bothered me to watch..

Never seen a film that scared me because of it

The Omen and The Exorcist... demon/devil movies are super creepy!! Also, after I saw Jaws as a little girl, I was afraid to sit on the potty.

I was aloud to stay over night with my best friend and her mum was watching it in the living room.... we begged her to watch it as kids do...I was only about seven or eight at the time.... she gave us each a so do stream... called it draculars blood... we all settled down to watch the movie.... anyhow when he was about to pounce my fiends mum shouted out boo.... it scared me half to death that I ran behind the sofa.... lol.... in the end I did not stop the night... my mum had to come and get me.... for weeks after I kept waking up in the middle of the night screaming... I honestly thought he was coming to get me.....

An old movie called 'Night of the Demon.' To escape being caught by said demon, you had to pass a piece of paper with symbols on it to someone else. The demon would kill them instead of you. Creeped me out for ages.

Fuck yeah, I am 100% with you.

I have this film on dvd searched high and low.

Special effects are dire. But the premises of the film is scary as hell, very atmospheric.

Think they partially knicked some of the idea to make drag me to hell.

Which was shit.

The moments in the Indiana Jones trilogy scared me as a kid. Mainly the opening of the Ark in Raiders and Donovan drinking the wrong grail in Crusade. Whenever them scenes came up, I basically walked out of the room until it was over.
