Documentary currently on ITV (ITV+1 at 1140pm) exploring how teachers are being pressured into helping children cheat in exams by management.
Exam boards accused of failing to investigate whistleblower concerns thoroughly - as they risk losing the school as a customer.
Whistleblowing teachers forced out and under pressure teachers are leaving profession.
A very broken system. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
It's broken because the holy grail is everyone passing the exams instead of getting an education. Schools are condemned as failing if the requisite number of exams are not passed.
Yes, they are important but measuring success in such a narrow way leads to teaching to pass the exams and a system where any and all steps are taken to ensure the exams are passed - whether anyone has learned anything or not.

Completely and wholly agree with all of the above.
Why is the state blind to this?
The cynic within my feels that they don't actually care about fixing the system.

God forbid we should have a nation of people with the ability to use critical thinking, their imagination and the ability to apply both in a practical sense. If we teach people to accept and not question, then the status quo prevails.
Not everything that has value can be measured and not everything that can be measured has value. |

They know exactly how important education is...so they replaced with schooling. |
