Tried it once, at night, in the rain loads of roadworks and all the satnav would say is "route recalculation" in that stupid fucking voice it had. It was a cheap one (free to me actually). I threw it out of the window in frustration and followed a taxi, just to get me back onto a outer road and back to sanity.

Did that last Monday, drove past the required hotel from three different angles and still couldn't find a way in. Central Manchester roads are a vortex from hell. I feel your pain!

No. You have only experienced one of the seven circles of hell. There are others to be tried. But you have to come in from a different direction!

It's not that bad for a big city!

Although since I left in 1997 it's got notably busier.

Last time I was home I did the tram and it was great

The trouble is, is the constant improvements. They're not improvements, they're just change for the sake of change. Every time I venture in, the layout changes. And when the last train home is 11pm, you stop going.

manchester & NI

Where I live in the city centre there are a number of one way streets that often confuse people unfamiliar with the area.

I've seen cars drive the wrong way and cause numerous accidents.

Hopefully not the same one as you.

I don't jump red lights, I have a driving licence and I am insured.

There's parking at the Aquatics centre. From Ancoats you want to really head away from Manchester and not into the eye of the storm. Would be much easier, skim down the side of the mancuninan way. Easy.
