Take a bottle of water. Don't take a cup if they offer if your a shaker.
If you get stuck on a question take a sip from the water bottle. That few extra seconds before answering should help you think. If your still stuck don't be afraid to ask them rephrase or come back to the question. It night make more sense after a few others.
Best of luck! |

Not for a receptionist job in Newport ???
That would be fun LOL !!
Be confident but not cocky, ask questions and do a bit of research on the company / people.
You'll ace it |

Also know a few things about the organisation they expect that and are likely to ask what you know about the business.
Its normally the first question. Stuff off the website is fine |

You should know most of these things from your application.
Reread it as well so you can remember what you said
Be calm, and confident of your abilities.
You won't have got to interview without meeting the criteria for the job, so you're halfway there |

"Thanks guys for the helpful tips... one thing that I do is that my voice shakes any advice about that? X"
Take your time in answering, a sip of water, answer slowly and carefully |

Sounds silly bit the more you think about it the more likely it ie to happen. keep telling yourself it will be calm and confident and it will. The subconscious takes those thoughts as instructions and doesn't differentiate worries xx |

If I were interviewing and someone started drinking from a bottle of water during the interview I (and all the other professionals I know) would mark them down. That really is not proper etiquette for an interview |

Go for a walk around Roath Park Rec first to compose your thoughts
Seriously though - I can't add much to what's been said, but make sure you've done your research in the company. Show you know what they are about and that you are interested in them.
Other thing is humour - a little humour used well can be asset. I've sat on interview panels for whole days and it gets hugely tedious. Used badly is a disaster though, so use carefully!
I know someone who when asked why they wanted the a nice, creative job in a seaside town replied - "because I fancy surfers". Somehow, they left and she got the job. Wouldn't recommend being as "out there" as that though
Very best of luck to you. |

I'm sorry to be rude but I've taught panels for 8 years and that's the silliest thing I've ever heard. Surely someone pausing for 5-7 seconds and taking a sip is better than rushing straight into a n irrelevant answer!! |

I've been interviewing for over 20 years and I've always tried to get the candidate to relax.
I'm more impressed by someone taking a few seconds, whether it be taking a sip or even saying, "ah ok that's a good question give me a second....". I'd much rather have someone confident enough to pause under pressure and give us the right answer than someone rush into one.
I always employ based on skills and personality. I rate personality a lot higher than skills.
You can teach people skills, trying to teach them not to be an asshole is a lot harder. It's an approach that's not let me down yet.
So OP, relax, let your personality come through without being over confident or arrogant. Be smart, research the company, take your time and that's all you can do.

Best of luck.
Take your time answering their questions . A pause before your answer shows them your thinking about what you want to say, a good thing.
If you get a tad dry taking some water is a good idea . Taking a sip gives you that few seconds to think of your answer.
Lol then in the eye always smile and be yourself
Good luck |
