For the older women among us ... what age did menopause start?
I've been "on" for 2 weeks now. Light enough but still there. Seems these days I'm more on than off. That's a symptom you've started, isn't it? |

The only advice worth listening to on a subject like this is a medically qualified person. Bleeding for two weeks straight needs investigating. It could be early menopause but the average age is 52 and in some of us much, much later my gynaegolgist sees a 62 year old woman who still has regular periods. I do know women who entered perimenopause around your age too though. |

I started with hot flushes about 10 years ago then nothing. Then spent a whole year with my periods all over the place, some short some many weeks, some very heavy. Then they went back to regular as clockwork for a year or so then started to peter out until they stopped altogether. What was hard was the 24/7 horniness so bad I had to take spare underwear to work . Haven't had a period now for about 3 years |

I take HRT originally because of the hot flushes, but it regulated my monthlies to every 28 days or so. Still get stomach pains but the actual event only lasts 1 or 2 days and is incredibly light. By the way perimenopausal is going through the change, the menopause is when it's completely finished, anything up to about 10 years. |

I'm in my early 40's and started having night sweats 7 years ago with no other signs. now I'm on hrt to stop my periods because I couldn't deal with all the other symptoms of being premenopausal. |

Thanks for all getting back to me.
My mother and sister both hit menopause in their 40s. I've always had irregular periods probably due to weight gain/loss and extended use of the pill with no breaks. I'm always too warm so not sure I would recognise a hot flash!
I'm in with the Dr next week so I'll have to ask a few questions about this. Wasn't aware of the blood test. |

Hot flushes are in a inner burning, your face can also go red.
Night sweats are waking up in the middle of the night in a pool of sweat, dripping off your body.
Oh the joys !! |

I'm 48 & haven't had night sweats yet, I don't have periods as I use the Mirena Coil so have no idea if I am or not.
Thought about having the blood test but I don't think i need to know unless something changes body wise....? |

Most of those are symptoms of being male.
The biggie symptoms are related to periods. |

Body wise, you may not be as wet down below as normal and having sex may become more painful, or go off it all together.
You may have itchy nipples, mood swings, and your boobs might head south. |

I dunno I was on HRT before those symptoms started. Just had night sweats. By the time they stopped HRT in 2012 it was all over So I didnt suffer. Ladies at work are really suffer with the flush thing.
As to age you can go menopausal at any time. Sadly some very early. |

Mine must be the longest in history started 13 years ago. Last period five months ago and having a hot flush as I type this! |

My other half complains as I go to bed before him, fall asleep on his side, leaving it wet...bless him. |

I've been having crap periods for a couple of years now, randomly heavy or lighter but lasting longer, or stopping after 3 days then starting again for another few days. There's a pre-menapause thing that lasts until your eggs have all gone and then you have the proper menapuase. Whoopee...
I'm gonna take hormones if i get hot flushes and shit like that as well. |

This is exactly like me. I will not go thru what the other females in the family have. I'll get it all whipped out! |
