Got this off a website, pretty much sums it up, better than I could explain it.
Vampirism is a condition where the individual needs energy, prana, chi to in order to sustain themselves and remain healthy. This effects them, physically, mentally and some believe spiritually. The vampiric individual needs to take energy from another person. Some are psychic vampires, they feed from chakras or elemental energies, there are also emotional vampires or empaths, who feed on people's emotions. Sanguine Vampires need to take small amounts of blood from a person to get this energy, which ideally they use a donor for. Psi Vampires also have donors. If Vampyres do not feed regularly, they have been known to go through depression or sadness, have migraines, be easily aggravated and lose train of thought.

I have been to an 'underground' blood fest, where people who believe they are vampires and get high off blood letting and drinking, and believe it makes them whole.
quite bizarre...but totally fascinating.

Why childish?
For some it is an interest in folklore and mythology.
Others it is the dressing up/darkside fun aspect of it.
Just people expressing themselves in different ways isnt it??? |

yeah cant get my head around a cult growing from a mythical creature authored by a man who researched vlad the impaler ..its our need to believe there is mythical powers available to individuals .."in the know" ..alistaire crowely "magik" being a classic example of make believe which simply does not work ...
Go look for the mythical fairies at the bottom of your garden or even the naked ample domme in wellies in boston .

Sorry, i didn't mean that the interest is childish, just his behaviour.
Stuff like always waiting to be invited to cross the threshold of the door and not eating garlic.
Liking the whole genre is one thing but role playing at being a vampire is a bit over the top in everyday life.
Some people have watched lost boys and interview with the vampire too many times |
