Do you want to do something stretchy or dynamic?
There are lots of different types of yoga practice so think about what you want from it and that might help narrow it down.
I do Hatha fusion with a bit of Ashtanga to get the heart rate up. It keeps me supple.

If you can't be assed with a class then check out some yoga DVD's.
One popular one is by former WWE Wrestler Diamond Dallas Page. It's not as bad as it sounds, he really knows his stuff and makes it less about spirituality and more about strength/flexibility.
It's called "DDP Yoga" or used to be called "Yoga For Regular Guys".
Lots of vids and adverts about it on youtube. |

"I'm looking for meditation and calm"
Then look for hatha rather than the dynamic classes. You start and end with a relaxation and it's much more about achieving the pose with the breath than every breath is a movement.

I agree. Having done yoga most of my life, of various types, this sounds more ideal for the op. Yoga is a personal pursuit and who others in class are, their performance etc is not important. Yes, there's some camaraderie and yogaing in a group is better for many, but you can ignore the others too. |
