He's been pulling in big crowds and raising a lot of money.

Good luck to him but I still think Hillary will win the nomination.

"What's he done?

"

He's a Democratic presidential nominee standing on a socialist platform.

In the US they see socialists as being the same as communists.

Actually, right wingers in the UK make that same accusation too.

Ah ok, thanks. Yeah he's always been fairly socialist, did figure it was just because democrat is the opposite of conservative. Idk much about US politics, not really that much interested in the UKs either but i have heard of this guy before so was interested.

He's one of those genuine politicians in my opinion.

I have a very very sneaky feeling that he might just do something unbelievable!

If nothing else he's opened the debate in America which I've been banging on about myself for years, and that is were no longer a democratic country and haven't been for years!

Hilary's losing points fast while Bernie's gaining points fast!

Forget democrats and republicans, what Bernie's talking about is why he's polling big gains

People have finally seen the oligarchy... And they don't like it.

She really knows her stuff but Wall Street would have thrown everything they have to bring her down.

She declared that she wouldn't be running quite a while ago though.

But Sanders and Warren are the antithesis of the Clintons so it remains to be seen if Hillary is going to follow on with Bill's legacy of deals behind closed doors or if she's actually going to try and be progressive.

A president who controls congress holds all the cards.

The dream is great. But does the default position of failing to make the dream have to be hell!

What they don't like is the fact that every politican since Reagan has been openly courted by big business.

90% of America was polled as wanting some sort of gun control but wait... The fire arm industry aren't really keen on that, so they get fuck all... That's not democracy that's oligarchy, even president Carter said in a recent interview "the us is a now an oligarchy with unlimited bribery"

That's pretty fucking damming from an ex president

because of the way the system is going to work, there is no way bernie would win enough of the small states to make up for not winning the big ones... (in terms of New York, California, Texas, Florida ect)

he may win a few... i wouldnt be surprised for example if he won iowa and new hampshire...... but when the big states get around her political machine will crush him

So until that changes, money and policy will pour in from commercial vested interests.

I think obama got in on exactly the same ticket.... The "change" message he talked about didn't really materialise but I have a sneaky suspicion that there willing to give it another go, and Clinton ain't a reformer, she's big banks and dodgy land deals!

There's a small percentage of yanks who are Republicans or democrats... And there'll vote accordingly but in reality the deciding vote will be the floating voter and they've been growing in America for awhile now!

Change didn't materialise? He achieved more in his first 2 years than most 2 term presidents in 8 years.

Repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell

Auto industry bailout

Marriage Equality

Lily Ledbetter fair pay act

Affordable Care Act

Etc etc etc.....

No president in decades had ever been able to achieve healthcare reform, Obama did it, it's not perfect but it's an improvement.

Those are just policies, people disagree on policies, that's not real change, real change is what sanders is taking about....

It's about the will of the people in free and fair elections!

When you've got every media outlet owned by 10 fucking people...

Free information has and is changing the world beyond how anyone could imagine and I personally think that's where sanders is getting his support

There's now a large minority who get there media from small online services and the crush of the giants is no longer as damming as it once was!... he looks and sounds honest.

He looks and sounds sincere

And more importantly, hes got that common touch appeal

Just checked him out... He seems like the democrat equivalent of Ron Paul.... Completely opposite policies...but similar in the sense that he seems authentic, has real policies and is unafraid to express his thoughts.

Also, both got the 'fuzzy old uncle' treatment from the mainstream media.

Go Bernie.

I think the difference between ron and rand is ron would rather be honest and unelected while rand would rather fib a bit to get the big seat!

I've got no qualms with right wing politicans,I think Reagan genuinely believed in what he said and he thought that was the best way to do it, my whole problem with Reagan was he was the start of style over substance and sound bite policy!.. And in reality the start of the openly bribed politican!

I agree.

The teenager in my life has been banging the drum for Sanders from the beginning but I can't get him to see that people liking what he says out of power is not the same as voting him in to do those things in power.

It would be amazing if he bucks the American trend and wins, just to see if he really can make a change. Of course, the reality is that he will face the same blocks Obama has faced.

Good that he is in the mix like Ron Paul on the right. Machine politics will kill him off. Big money runs the campaigns and until that gets reformed it's not a fair fight or even close.

I believe in Bernie. I think that applied democratic socialism is a good thing. He also recognises climate change as the greatest threat to national security above any other challenges, from social inequality to healthcare - "because it's the only one with a non negotiable timeframe".

I really liked that.

If he should get recognised for his buffoonery then we should also look at someone who has the potential to do some actual good.

its interesting reading this now and where i basically stood on sanders 6 months ago...... and where I stand now

he has come such a long way and he has gotten his message out a lot better than hilary has....

from the first few interviews i saw him on the campaign, to last nights democratic town hall.... he has made progress in leaps and bounds...

i think i was a sceptic at the beginning.... now...... not so, the message has won me over to the point where i could happily campaign for bernie now (i don't agree with everything.... but they are minor) not quite donated to bernie yet..... but closer to donating for bernie than hilary

Americans in general are really pissed at the way politics in this country have played out over the last 20 years. That is why Trump and Sanders is drawing so much attention. Neither is taking money from special interests. It should be an interesting election this year. Hillary is liable to be indicted on criminal charges. So she is not a guarantied winner for the democrats.

The trouble with politics is, it's massively corrupted.

There all at it, left and right.

I genuinely belive sanders is the upright guy he says he is.

Clinton will just be another centralist agenda but in reality hooked in for the cash politican.. She's got a life long career of corruption behind her!... I mean her and bill have had like 120 million dollars in speaking fees in the last ten years, she had a million of Goldman Sachs, do you really think she's going to tackle the banks in the best interest of the people or the best interests of the bank!!.

Joe bidens out there doing diplomacy with Russia over the Ukraine while his sons in charge of the largest fracking firm trying to frack east Ukraine...

They have interests, sometimes those interests are good for the people and but mostly there bad for the people!.

Politics won't change until you get the money out of it.

I've concluded that a system or millions of dictators with free movement between their territories is the best system. Their power is always checked by the competition and fear of people leaving. I call this system "business" and it works best with minimal involvement from politicians.

All lines are converging at almost perfect angles...

Resources are meeting growth which is meeting technology which is meeting religion which is meeting states which is meeting capitalism!.. Christ even viruses and bacteria are converging on us..

It's like a glorious spiderweb of interaction all heading for the event horizon!.

I'm not a particularly religious person but there is something at work, let's call it mother nature.

And that bitch has had enough!

You sound like one of those lefties that used to stand on the street shouting about how oil was about to run out - in the 70's

I think you two need to get a room.

And pipe down, I'm trying to listen to how Bernie is going to fix America.

You don't oil to "run out"

You just have to get to the point where you don't find more than you did yesterday!...

There's a copper mine in Brazil they've been digging out for ten years 24hrs a day 7 days a week..

In three years time they reach the copper!!.. Mind you it's a big one, it would supply world demand for 9 months!.

The Marcellus field.. Hyped as 100 years of gas, it's on the downturn

The bakken basin downgraded by 70%

At best about 2 months of the world's oil supply.

Still it did better than the California play, that was downgraded by 90%.

The oil companies have drilled all over the world for 100 years, they've used the pinnacle of scientific research to find every last drop, all those fracking plays have been known about for years, they just didn't have the bendy drill but technology to extract it for reasonable costs.

In 50 years they've found three big conventional finds, north sea, Alaskan slope and gulf coast, all of which have gone past maximum output.. And every year we need more..

Of course it's not just oil that's in short supply..

The world is utterly short of water!.

Funnily enough Saudi and the Yemen have been extracting water from three big undergroud Fischers..

There nearly empty, the Yemen's water table has dropped by 70m in ten years and there main export is agricultural because oil practically ran out ten years ago.

The cost of water in Saudi last month trebled it's predicted to treble again within a year.

China has been over drilling there water reservoirs for years, they've reached crises point with water in many regions this last year.

Nobody ever thinks of water being a finite resource, I've always found that strange myself...

Anyhow in a system built on perpetual growth, something's gotta give.

I've not yet bought my tickets for Chile but I've looked at prices

There's a lot to be said for being armish. If you make yourself bored enough then anything can become exciting...

Now say that on a street corner...

You know the sun is burning itself out anyway... we have to move planets at some time. May as well do it sooner than later. It's not like the Amish would ever develop the technology to do that.

There's a little bit of truth in every crazy person!.

It's just a case of filtering the white noise out!.

I've always liked the lily pad analogy of doubling growth..

Nobody spotted the problem till it was half way and by then it was to late....

Anyhow I'm getting back to my theory on the growth of the sinkhole phenomenon
