Apparently there are some new rules including...

'Surrounding match officials

What is new? Fewer players allowed to confront referee.

Scenario

Two or more players approach the match official in a confrontational manner

Club face charge if the incident is reported by the referee

Previously, the guideline was three or more players, but that has now been reduced.'

There are also new rules for pretending to be injured.

Sorry, but how is it OK for any player at all to approach the ref agressively?

They are such wimps the pretend to be injured?

Should be like rugby.

If they are aggressive or rude to the ref sin bin them.

If they pretend to be injured make them play rugby the next week

How close do the players have to be before it constitutes "surrounding"? Will they have to use that can of white spray to mark out an exclusion zone

The threats of fines won't bother Premier league clubs, the fines are a drop in the ocean to these clubs budgets.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Always entertaining to see rugby held up as a beacon of sportsmanship and fair play.

Not saying the players are perfect... But they do use discipline much more effectively.

Targeting individual players rather than clubs has a greater impact than fines.

Hence 3 of our best players may not be playing in the World Cup in September

I think the refs should just wear big blancmange style wedding dresses (think 'My BiG Fat Gypsy Wedding').

No players would get particularly close then.

A Mr Blobby costume would also be good.
