OK so most of the locals will prolly be aware there may be an issue with the water supply at the moment, but for anyone living under a rock - or those travelling there soon, boil your water.. last thing you need before a meet is to get a bout of the raging squits

IMPORTANT PUBLIC INFORMATION NOTICE
As a precaution, people in Blackpool, Chorley, Fylde, Preston, South Ribble and Wyre are advised to boil their drinking water.
United Utilities is advising customers in these areas to boil their water for all drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth as a precaution until further notice.
People can continue to use tap water without boiling for general domestic purposes such as bathing, flushing toilets or washing clothes.
Routine tests at Franklaw water treatment works detected traces of cryptosporidium and although the traces are low the company is advising customers to boil their water as a precaution.
Martin Padley, Chief Scientific Officer at United Utilities, said: "The advice is being given purely as a precautionary measure as we carry out additional tests today.
"We apologise for the inconvenience but the health of our customers is absolutely paramount."
Customers are asked to take extreme care when boiling water because of the danger of scalding. Simply bring water to the boil and let it cool. United Utilities is monitoring water supplies and is hoping to be able to lift the boil water advice as soon as possible.

This is not strictly true.
According to Thames Water, the average is 7 people have had it pass through their livers before it gets to yours.
But this in only true in London, which has a large population and pressures on water supply.
It is not true in the UK as a whole.

Knowing that it may be contaminated turns my stomach so I'd rather not even touch it until it's been deemed safe enough  |

Scarily.... Water is not quite as plentiful as people think.
Of all the water on earth, only around 3% of it is fresh water 97% being salt water.
Of that 3% ...35% is ground water and 64% is glacial, 0.9% is declared as other... Meaning surface water.... Of that 0.9%
69% is perma frost, 3%swamps, 3% atmosphere, 1% soil moisture 1.5% living things... Which leaves lakes at 20% of the 0.9% of the 3%

Remember, this is just a precaution, the message said traces of cryptosporidium. It is a little animal that occurs naturally in nature and if you are fit and healthy it won't do you any harm. The water companies in this country spent millions on installing monitoring equipment to check! It is very rare to find any trace. |

If I was on a deserted island with only shit infested rain water I'd re think my strategy and start a fire and boil it  |

That's not quite true, even if your fit and healthy, you'll have weeks of stomach cramps and diarrhoea.
