Yep.
My family were very 'churchy' and religious when I was young. As soon as I hit 6 I opted to not be dragged along to Sunday school and started playing rugby instead. Never been into a church a since bar weddings and funerals since (except a few cathedrals as a tourist but that's more to do with architecture than religion.)
I've chosen my own path since re employment/education. I've decided my own relationships, friends and social circles. I've made my own choices re voting and support of various organisations. I have an eclectic taste in film, music and books.
I've formed my own opinions on a range of subjects via research, life experience and conversations with others.
So no. The closest I get to being manipulated is emotional pressure from my other half and our child re things they want me to do, things they want me to buy for them and places they want me to take them. Which in all honesty I'm usually planning to do anyway - I just like them to 'work' a little to try and sway me.
Oh. And the woof can pretty much get what she wants just by giving me 'that look'. But in the grand scheme of things I don't see that as manipulation.
As for brainwashing? Good friggin luck trying to work out how my mind works and influence it. I've been trying all my life and still can't work it out myself!

They did for many years, but I`m also under no illusions that I am being manipulated further, it`s a constant battle once you are aware of it. |

well in the old days of industry needing a workforce educated just enough by the state to ensure those in power got their profits etc the control was possibly more evident..
maybe its just adapted to the new working.. |
