The first one wasn't good at all.
It was shite.
Tim was the only thing good about it.
And don't get me started with the spider with traffic lights on its underside. |

Will you be watching it? "
100% I'll watch it...can't beat an original but we got to keep open minded to new things |

"I really enjoyed the original. Haven't seen it in years though.
Why do they have to remake EVERYTHING nowadays?! God, doesn't anyone have the brains to come up with new ideas anymore! "

Like most Stephen King adaptations, it veered away from the book too much and huge chunks missing. Why can't they do the dark tower series? Get Peter Jackson to direct it? |

Totally agree, the book of this and the shinning are so much better than the movies. |

Really?
I'm worried Roland won't be rangy enough. He is so clear to me that another interpretation of him might spoil it all.

I read The Gunslinger almost 30 years ago. After King was incapacitated by the accident it was that series that I thought would be seen as his great unfinished work. When he returned to writing it was frustrating that he didn't get back to it immediately and when he did you could sense a change. It lost its way for a bit but is still a great fantasy saga.

I've finished reading the series, (till he decides to add more!), and I started part way through, went back to the beginning, then read through the entire series to the end. So many characters, over such a long period of time, their could be some great parts for actors. If someone can pull this off properly, it will be better than lotr and game of thrones combined! |

Have you read both versions of The Gunslinger?

Yes, but I can't remember the differences. It's been a long time since I read them. Wizard and Glass is my favourite. |

I vividly remember the 'dontcha wanna balloon?' scene but beyond that have few memories...so I don't feel any strong attachment to the film.
I've never read Stephen King but films such as the Tommyknockers felt underwhelming ... I'm glad to hear that he's books are better. |

I think Misery, The Shining and Carrie are the only good films based on King novels. Even they missed things I thought were worth keeping.
I'll probably wait until IT comes on DVD before watching it.

King's book are so much better than the films - IT wasn't bad, Carrie was ok (even the remake) but The Shining was seriously bad - except for Jack of course who was just perfect!
The Dead Zone, although dated now, was also good
But to anyone who hasn't read him - do it! He's amazing

The original TV movie version of Salem's Lot ( the David Soul on) scared the bejesus out of me..... The small boy floating outside the window and scratching the pane ... Still gives me the shivers.... Anyone else remember this ? |

Not likely the first was such a poor attempt. In fact there are very few of mr kings books that have made good films - so gave up bothering with the films years ago. |

The priest returns in one of the dark tower books. As do many characters and concepts. It's all to do with ka. |

Yes I watched that on telly as a kid, scared me and the scene where the kid is motionless in the grave and then suddenly jumps up, made me jump out my chair, lol. |

The original I.T. isn't necessarily a good film but it is a classic. I rewatched it recently and it was nowhere near as scary as I remembered. I did read the book when I was fairly young (9 or 10) so could probably do with reading it again
As for The Dark Tower, like others I read Wizard and Glass first then went to the beginning read them all in order. A film adaptation would be absolutely massive, complex and I fear wouldn't appeal to anyone who wasn't already a a fan. |
