MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire) |
As the company says - just do it.
Motivation is not some magic potion... build it into your routine, keep doing it, and voila mission accomplished.
And yes, that is speaking from experience. I hated exercise - was a size 26 for a long time... got off my arse, started exercising, now love it and am a gym instructor and trying to get repaired after a car accident to qualify to teach a different class too... |

You're in tremendous shape! Go you!
To OP, perhaps find a running partner or pick up a sport... I prefer football or tennis to running alone for hours (ok ok..minutes! ) |

Drive out to the country.
Find a field with a bull in it.
Walk up to said bull holding a red flag and poke him in the eye.
If you then don't feel motivated to run?
It's a cow - not a bull.

Go out for a walk and throw a rock at a copper, you`ll run then. |

What sort of running did you do before ?
Competitive racing or jogging in the park ?
Try out your local ParkRun on a Saturday morning.
It's (only) 5km and we'll organised and attended. Very much a social event for runners of all abilities |

I'm not a natural runner. You know the sort, you see them running along effortlessly, actually looking like they are enjoying it? Then occasionally you see the ones that look like disabled elephants barely moving, looking like they are about to collapse and die? Yep, the latter, that's me.
I set myself a goal, a 5k, a 10k, a half marathon. And I did them. I'm still not a natural runner. Still look like a disabled elephant. But I run. I don't have a goal at the moment, but I do Park run every week, sign up for that. It's a great little free timed run. Bound to be one near you.
I also found I prefer the OCR events, to actually just running events. So I do those too, try to do at least 1 a year.
Motivation comes from within, but very quickly it becomes a habit. |

5km is 3.11 miles. This overweight newbie runner can do it (slowly!), I'm sure you can! |
