I've been trying to quit smoking for a while. I've got to admit I'm not doing too well with it.
What I'm wondering is.. How long does a smoker need to of quit for before they can call themselves a non smoker?
What do you guys and gals think is an acceptable length of time?

Nicotine withdrawal symptoms usually reach their peak 2 to 3 days after you quit, and are gone within 1 to 3 months.(1) It takes at least 3 months for your brain chemistry to return to normal after you quit smoking.(2) The last two symptoms to go usually are irritability and low energy.
Cut and paste from a google search.
I figure once withdrawel has gone away you count as a non smoker. |

"You're a non-smoker the second you give up."
I'm sure a few people will disagree
"I think the term is 'recovering smoker'"
Ok so how long does a "recovering smoker" need to of quit for? Lol |

You are a non smoker from the second you put out your cigarette.
I found breathing really deeply as if I was sucking on a fag ( ciggy not gay ) mimicked smoking and helped me to stop.
The worst thing to do is to keep saying FUCK I NEED A CIGGY!
Cos you will believe yourself. You have to say. I don't need cigs. Im a non smoker
When someone offers you one say. I don't smoke thanks.
It sounds so good.
If they insist more than twice do what I used to do.
Smile - take the cig then break it and bin in. They go fucking crazy! and never offer again.
Funny how they don't mind parting if they are stopping you giving up... there are reasons that they do this x
Good luck. |

Believe the first one not the second one.
You've already told yourself you can't do it by listening more seriously to the second one.
N.L.P is powerful.

Quality advice!
If you notice my smoking status keeps changing its because I'm only going to set it to "smoker" when I'm actually smoking one. The rest of the time I'm a non smoker! |

i would say your not 'recovering', you have quit..
giving yourself a false goal till you move on to the next stage whatever that you think that is can only be prolonging a false state..
you have quit..
and that's the only state you are currently in and its a positive one..
well done and hang in there and as others have said it will get easier.. |

I tried many times. I class myself as a non smoker now as I truly will never go back. Never want need or think about them even when d*unk.
Before I was only ever a smoker trying to quit.
Keep going, you can do it and one day you will be free of it both physically and mentally. It's liberating |
