Whilst lounging by the pool a guy opposite openly read a porn mag whilst his daughter and wife were next to him.
Do other countries have a more liberal view to porn and its industry? Will the UK ever find such behaviour acceptable, or are we just too British and it should remain behind closed doors?
Personally, I could never openly read a porno in a public place

Yeah, on the bus to work I used to watch porn. It's not quite as easy on the tram I think, I never did with kids in the vicinity. I'd switch over to YouTube music videos |

I'm not keen on inflicting one's sexual activities on unwilling people, particularly ones offspring whatever their age.
I would however be happy if good, accurate, informative and reliable sexual information was more acceptable and porn isn't any of those things. |

Although, in Japan, I missed the booking in for a hostel and spent the night on the streets. Sat in a bus shelter with some homeless people til we got kicked out, spent the rest of the night in a doorway with a hentai mag |

"Was the daughter old enough to understand what it was?
If she was a baby then she wouldn't know porn from Shakespeare.
I'd say 12-14"
Too young to be exposed to porn in my opinion. In an ideal world nobody would be able to view porn until they had experience of "normal" sex and relationships. |

There's being liberal and there's being liberal.
When does exposing minors to pornography cease being refreshingly liberal to crossing the line of decency?
I'm all for children being brought up comfortable with sexuality in the right context. But I'm absolutely against exposing them to graphic sex images before an appropriate age when they can fully comprehend what's going on and also determine what is right and wrong.
I don't know how 'hardcore' this mag was (Apols if you've said already I've not read the whole thread through) but unless very soft indeed this sounds wholly inappropriate to me, not just for his own family but potentially those others around the pool too |

Then to answer your original question, no I don't think other countries are that liberal (if that's the right word) with sexual exposure.
You'll find countries or cultures that are more open with non-sexual nudity or sex education, things like that.
I think that's a very strange situation. |

Didn't it happen before modern media? Me and my friends found hardcore porn mags hidden under bushes out playing in the woods on quite a few occasions when we were kids. Think the first time we found some I was still in junior school. Modern media has made it easier yes but that's not to say it never happened before the Internet. |

Agree, the same happened with me and my friends. Some parents I think are complicit too with what they let their kids wear/see/do. |
