Persevere. You can do it. I managed to give up twenty odd years ago. I went a bit loopy for a fortnight, but it got easier. You will be so proud of yourself when you succeed. Take one day at a time, one hour at a time, even. Reward yourself in some way with the money you would have spent on fags, and never ever give in to the little voice that whispers 'just one won't hurt'. Good Luck.x

I finished it now.

You're doing so well. It's mind over matter. It's a complete habit and whilst I'm sure there's a nicotine addiction, I'm also sure a lot of it is purely psychological. I stopped cold turkey a while back, did about eight months then started again... no idea why. I like to smoke but I need to give up for health/financial reasons cause my brain knows that's the smart thing to do. I just need to shift some lard off my arse first.

Negative association is the way forward.

It's absolutely OK you have a ciggerete but whenever you have one after each drag one of your mates must kick you in the bollocks

If you have any rugby player friends this will significantly improve the success rate of the treatment.

I suspect after just one ciggerete you'll no longer want to have another :p

Tom - if you've just bought a cheap e-cig it will be crap.

As cheeky says - get a decent vape set up and you'll find it way less frustrating and stressful.

They're not much more than the bollocks e-cigs you get at petrol stations.

The gamucci ecigs are nice but if you pop off the plastic cap on the end of the "filter" cartridge you can top them up with normal liquid rather than buy new cartridges.

Can't take them. I think I mentioned earlier in the thread that I tried Zyban a few years ago and after a couple of days I went blind. Being as Champex are essentially a rebranded version of Zyban (with a few tweeks) I'm not willing to risk it. Besides, I dislike the idea of messing with my brain chemistry unless it's absolutely necessary.

My e-vapor is now a mix of custard and blackberry flavour. Not only is it helping me to not smoke it is helping me avoid puddings. If you fall off the wagon, get back on. Sometimes a relapse is needed to refocus on your reasons for quitting in the first place.

I'm up and down to be honest. I didn't get on with the e-cig so I've upgraded to a cape thing that was suggested to me by other forumites.

I've cut down the real cigarettes massively and don't have any at all most days but things have been very stressful at work at the moment and I've fallen off the wagon a couple of times.

Still determined to quit though..."

You're still doing better than Me. Patches make me itch. The spray is minging. And Ecigs make me cough like a trooper

"Let me know how that goes. I'm down to half my original nicotine level doing it gradually but it's taking a while."

I vaped like a trooper and pretty certain it made me more addicted.

I couldn't imagine being able to cut down nicotine levels on it as I was finding it hard enough as it was.

I used that. Smoke free for a year next month. If you can quit on it, which you should, you need to exercise your will power to not smoke again. I have a constant battle but always win, my friend has never contemplated having a ciggy again..... Just proving again we are all different Good luck!!!!

My uncle used to smoke, always hand in hand with a pint, etc. He started to get a bit forgetful, hard to concentrate, easily confused, that sort of thing.

First question the doc asked was do you smoke? Answered yes....the doc replies...well that wont be helping. Gave up the minute he left the docs.

You just need to find that one thing that makes you wise up.

My brother was the same when his partner became pregnant. That one thing.

After a 30 year habit of 40 rollups a day, and after once quitting for 6 months, but every day was like the first day, I gave up cigarettes 5 years ago by using good quality e-cigs (not the cheapo e-lite type rubbish).

After a couple of days vaping, I never went back to cigarettes and have never wanted one since.

Hang in there, it will get so that the taste of a real cigarette is BAD, don't ever smoke a whole one as they don't taste so bad after 1 and you are back in the loop again. For me it's 6 years now, still use Ecig but don't ever miss smoking.

Gave up a few years ago now. But still miss that smoothe mellow flavour of a good Virginian leaf. And still occasionally enjoy a good cigar / pipe with rum or whiskey in front of the fire on a cold winters night. Bliss.

Personally I don't like the vaping thing as you're still smoking, yes its less harmful but your brain is still on nicotine and the health benefits are questionable. Best to just quit cold turkey. It's hard for a few days but once you hit 3 weeks the habits gone and you're a non smoker. The longer you draw it out the harder to totally quit it will be

Good Luck.x"

It's not smoking as there's no smoke.

It's the smoke that's harmful and the health benefits are enormous and well documented thus far.

What works for some doesn't for others, different strategies work better for different people.

Apart from that, I agree with you completely

The one thing I liked about this thread is the huge amount of encouragement from the non/ex smokers. Sonetimes non smokers can be so down on us addictive types.

Maybe if I keep reading the thread I'll set a date to quit again.

I've now upgraded to a decent vaporizer and tank - Innokin Cool Fire IV with an Eleaf GS Air-m tank and I'm really liking it. keep at it - vaping 5 years here

Like you, I very quickly found that the cheap e-cig type stuff just didn't do it for me after a 40 a day rollup habit.

I've been with vaping through 3 generations of technology now, and whilst I've tried the newer bottom coil tanks, I keep going back to the Vivi Nova tank and coils. Throat hit is good, coils are £1 a time, and can be effectively cleaned and dry burned several times - I get around a month off a good one and I rotate them about with one soaking in isopropyl alcohol (off ebay) whilst the other is use.

Do a web search for onepound liquids - good quality and very quick delivery

Just done some digging and the tank I've got coming apparently works perfectly from 19w up to 35w and many have found the sweetspot to be around 23.5w using a 0.5ohm coil. My current tank can't take more than 20w so I'm currently running at 13w with decent hits.

I'm on day 5 of cold turkey

I moved on to vaping around 6 weeks ago after 25 years of smoking and got on with it very well and didn't touch a single ciggy

I lost my purse with all of my vaping stuff in it when I was on holiday over Christmas - so I decided in a stubbourn fit not to smoke anything at all!

It hurts

It's a good thing I'm not working otherwise I might get the sack for being an emotional wreck!

I also just want to eat everything in sight!

I'm going to be the size of a house - but at least I won't be smoking right!

I'm not going out tonight I'm too afraid that I'll cave in!

I can't wait to be free of this nicotine addiction!

Good luck to everyone that has quit or quitting or vaping - at least we don't stink of filthy ashtrays anymore and we'll all be running marathons with our new lungs soon!

Also to burn off all the pies we've eaten!

Yay

Happy new year - sorry for the epic xx

"One pound liquids Really don't forget it going inside you x"

They claim all their liquids contain pharmaceutical grade ingredients and are guaranteed 70/30 mix. Their feedback also seems excellent. I did plenty of research before ordering and only ordered two bottles.

"Tell me what are the ingredients then"

Nicotine.

Propylene Glycol 30%.

Vegetable Glycol 70%.

Flavouring.

Just started using my new sub-ohm tank. An Innokin iSub with .5ohm coil. It works perfectly as low as 19w and at the 23.5w I'm currently running its perfect.

Massive hit, no dry hits and great flavour.

Definitely a winning combination (Innokin Cool Fire IV and Innokin iSub tank).
