picked up new car yesterday hubby went out in it today and it has a ruddy chip in the windscreen!!!!!! do they think we have a bottomless pocket aaaagghhhh

Oh! The chip was already there? Might be a difficult one to prove but you could try returning to the seller, unless it was a private sale.

I'm confused. The chip wasn't there when you brought the car home? So presumably the chip happened while in your possession/ownership.

How is this anybody else's responsibility?

Can't be any worse than seeing someone's new car, picked up on the same day that the new 15 plates came out, getting petrol and seeing it being rear ended on the petrol station forecourt.

If you're insured fully comp then chips are usually repaired for free. Even if you're not the charge is only minimal.

Yep, check you have window cover with your insurance and call autoglass, no excess to pay or loss of no claims for a chip

If you don't have window cover get some and wait a week

Hubby wrote off last car and on the first day of having new car he's put a chip in the window......I'd be catching the bus if I was you might be safer
