The long suffering English cricket fans are confounded by their teams performance once more. From brilliance to bilge and back to brilliance......

Aus 120-9 as I type, but I wouldn't put it past the Aussies to rattle out England for less. Need a huge innings from the likes of Cook, Bell and Root

Because conventional wisdom currently is bat first, bowl last wins. Except in overcast British conditions.

Time to diggin boys, leave anything wide, block anything straight, 2 an over for the rest of the day and 100 for 0 at the close would be just great!

Even for a couple of wickets would be good going

Proper cricket! Bat for the next 2.5 days, and the bowl out the Aussies on day 4 and 5 for an innings win!

think so yes, low on confidence and out of form isn't what any team needs facing the Aussies..

He actually did quite well today, toughed out the start, was just getting going and then gave his wicket away with an awful shot. I feel for him.

I'd say England finish the day just ahead, let's hope that the scoring continues as well tomorrow and the bloody weather improves.

I managed to watch the whole Lords Test Match. I was very unhappy that it took away from my perving at Fab time for not much reward.

Today I've been sneaking on at work and every time I start watching the rain starts falling.

I have not seen a single wicket.

England's day but I hope that wicket of Bell isn't too costly. We need a good 170 to 200 plus lead at the end of the first innings I think!

Scores level with 7 wickets in hand. Hopefully a good 1st innings lead after day 2 and let's see what happens. Enjoyed watching the 2005 highlights today, what a test that was.

Fair enough.

But the optimist in me sees a 300 first innings lead by the end of tomorrow!

Todays Trivia :

It's the first time since 2004, some 139 matches ago that England have not included a southern African in their team.

And they're leading.

Just 3 or 4 runs away from being 100% correct infact! ..... Were you watching the MCC vs yesteryear by any chance?

England 100 ahead, suspect we might need quite a few more, wouldn't fancy having to chase too many on that wicket on the last couple of days. Cracking test match so far.

So a first innings lead of 145. Will it be enough?

Aussies started brightly but now 17-1 so the next hour or so will be crucial!

Come on England!

Steven Finn take a bow. Great to see him doing well after disgracefully being told in public that he was unselectable a couple of years ago. Says a lot about the man that he has comeback and done well.

A lesson in telling someone who thinks they know best to jog on.

Finny you are bowling great

Finny you are in the England team

Finny we want to change your action and run up to make you quicker.

Finny if you stick your leg out you might get quicker but don't worry about knocking the bails off.

Sorry Finny you are unselectable we don't know what has happened to you.

Scores level! Effectively 0/6 now.

I wonder what sort of total England will have to chase? Anything over 130 and it'll be squeaky bum time I reckon!

Lol

I had no idea that the above is what actually happened, - all I know is that when I first saw Stephen Finn on the international stage a few years ago, he looked like a young ooooo aaaaaaa Glen McGrath, - that good!

Being 6'7" tall, all he has to concentrate on is line & length, that's all, & like Glen he was bowling around 80-85mph anysee.

The management at the EWCB sound as idiotic as ever, I see!
