"I'm needing help finding my safe word..any ideas?"
Traffic lights work well and they are easy to remember and good for public play or playing with various people.
Don't use something complicated. When I'm playing, I can barely remember amber or red. I can barely speak.
An old safe word of mine was 'fo show no.' And It was impossible to say when I needed to say it. |

Traffic lights works for me. Although part of me would like to choose 'banana' due entirely to one Family Guy episode. The BF and I also have a codeword when we play with others just in case either of us wants a verbal signal to the other to make our excuses. We've never needed it but it's good to have a system. |

"Otorhinolaryngologist
I can't read that never mind say it! What does it mean?"
something to do with the throat
Laryngopharynx orapharynx and nasapharynx are all parts of the cavity at the back of the throat.
So someone who studies the voice? |

"What's wrong with stop?"
Safe words are supposed to be words that won't be found during scenes. For example I will say no quite a lot if there's something new and perhaps a little more than I expected for the session. It doesn't mean no and it doesn't mean I won't do it, it just means I'm expressing myself. I use it in the same way I repeat f*** or yes.
If asked do you mean no I would also answer no, as I don't mean stop what you're doing at all... I just mean you're pushing my limits which is what bdsm is about for me.
Traffic lights is simple, gives a way to let your D know you're freaking before going too far when using Amber, also let's the D know when you love something too and you want more (mmmm a flogger). |

The traffic light system (red, amber) is good especially for newbies. But I know several very experienced players who use it too.
Another is "rainbow" because it's something that is highly unlikely to pop up in a scene. Words such as "stop", "no", "aaargh" etc. are not good choices because they might legitimately be something said by the sub/bottom during play - and a part of their enjoyment.
In the end it is your choice. If you don't like the ideas here then think of something more personal to you. The only "rules" are it should be something you can remember, something you won't have to think about, and it shouldn't be a word that might naturally pop up during play.
I know from experience that my mind can be very focussed on taking pain when I am subbing, and "Red" comes to mind very quickly.
It might be worth mentioning that if you're ever gagged, a safe signal can take the place of a safe word. Such as being asked to hold an object, and to drop it when you have had enough. Or a bell to ring. |

Not too shabby. It's an ear nose and throat doctor. |

"I like the traffic lights system
RED - Stop
Amber - bit much ease of
Green - ok carry on,
"
Makes sense, easy to remember and not easy to be misinterpreted. |

"What's wrong with stop?"
Safe words are not usually stop or no etc as part of the D/s dynamic is pushing boundaries and so sometimes not meant etc.
The traffic light system is a common set of words used but some have a definitive safe word that all parties know and respect. |

we have chatted about this and have decided we know each other well enough to not need one - either alone with each other or when we are with others - granted we arent very extreme in our play and be easy enough to say sod that im outta here |
