What do you want to reduce?
If it's all messages so you can sort out your inbox or keep on top of it while chatting then just put a status up saying you're deleting your inbox and anyone who messages right now will likely be deleted. You'll probably get 0 messages at this time.
If it's better quality messages then ask for this on your profile. Word it in a way that encourages nice messages, like my profile i say i get a lot of nice messages and am grateful for that (i do get mostly decent messages). |

How about being grateful for people taking the time to write lol, 50 a day!!! I don't get that a year! Seriously if it's a pain use the filters or live with it, I guess it can get a bit much but it's not end of the world mate |

You can stop it OP - put all your filters on.
There is no need to get inundated with unwanted mails, some people of course enjoy the attention and the feeling of being popular and wanted, so they leave it so all and sundry can message and like to tell people how many messages they get a day. And some people don't really get that many messages but they can't admit it because they have to appear popular.
Get your filters set to the max and search yourself. You won't be hassled by messages then .. |
