Watched green mile after someone told me I'd need a box of tissues for it. Sat right through and nothing to wank over at all. Very disappointed

Yeah, but I figured it may have been funny with Ian Dury in it, being a comical lyricist - but so not!!

Hey can you remember if John Hurt was in that movie - or a movie with both Hurt & Dury in it?

Ha ha ....... it's just that they filmed something together, much of which was filmed in some old large country home, which was let out to the film company by a friend's old man.

Anyway as the story goes, although Ian Dury had problems climbing stairs due to having polio, both himself & John Hurt had to be carried up to their rooms every night by security because they'd be totally off their trollies!!

Go boys!!

I cant argue with that, Ive been lucky to grow up in an era where i had the freedom to just bugger off n see some great bands n had a couple of jobs where ive met n drank with down to earth "Stars"..even had Freddie Mercury make me a cuppa n touch me Knee(which i havnt washed since)

One of the benefits of being a Chavy Chancer

Ha ha ha, - good on you!

I was driving home after work one evening when I heard on the radio that Ian Dury had died, so I grabbed a bottle of whiskey on the way home, lifted the speakers on to the window sills facing out, opened the windows & blasted him out for the night listening to him from the lawn with was virtually on a quiet end of a beach on the Pacific.

I couldn't believe how many people wondered over for a chat about Ian, - & a free shot! :--(

The guy was really famous down under in the 70's & 80's & even on that day in the late 90's there was rarely an advertising slot on TV that didn't have at least one commercial with a Blockheads tune.

That beach will always remind me of Ian, - quite poignant!!

Good on yer Mate, I do think the Blockheads peaked at the wrong time, So many Bands coming through with more aggressive Labels n PR people, As the saying goes its not what you know its who you know(to give the brown envelopes to)

Ain't that the truth!

Although in this pretty boy, - 'look at me, I'm a talent show judge' - music age, I could hardly imagine a little guy stricken with polio screaming on a big venue stage now; - perhaps we're overdue another punk era!
