Since 2012...to June. 309 police officers andpcso's have been convicted of various crimes from assault, sexual offences, possession of indecent images of children.

Only about half the forces provided figures citing cost and time limits ...

18 forces reported that 295 serving officers had criminal convictions.

I get really angry about things like this. How can we trust the very people who are supposed to uphold the law to keep us safe??

Edinburgh

I did my work experience at Lothian & Borders Police HQ when I was at school. They put me in the personnel department. I was astounded by the number of criminal convictions within the staff.

My dream of becoming a copper was over and I went to work for criminal lawyers.

I guess they are human , like the rest of us .

Not trying to justify it , but if the figures are for 3 years , and include everything , it may not be as bad as it may appear .

We have MPs , soldiers , doctors , priests , Infact all sorts who break the law .

How can we stop it ?

We should make breaking the law illegal.
